Position Purpose: To create a flexible elementary grade program and a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils; to motivate pupils to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for elementary grade education, in accordance with each pupil's ability; to establish good relationships with parents and with other staff members.
Responsibilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education
ND Teaching License or ability to obtain prior to start date
Valid Teaching Certificate with Bilingual/ESL Endorsement or Plan on File to acquire ESL within 2 years of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
Two to three years teaching experience
Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations

Responsibilities:
- Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, students and families.
- Teaches District approved curriculum.
- Meets and instructs assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated.
- Plans a program of study that meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interest of the students.
- Establishes and maintains standards of classroom behavior.
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, and projects to communicate these objectives to students.
- Diagnoses the learning styles, cultural preferences, and strengths and challenges of all students.
- Evaluates pupils' academic and social growth, keeps appropriate records and prepares progress reports.
- Is available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day.
- Serves as case manager, including writing ILPs, facilitating ACCESS testing, and advising regular ed staff.
- Participate in all mandatory training or training appropriate to the position as required by the district.
- Ensures a safe, pleasant, and effective educational atmosphere, provides discipline as necessary, and enforces school policy
