Position Summary
Under the direction of the Director of Innovation and Engineering, the Engineering Manager will be responsible for overseeing the engineering activities related to capital expenditure including setting up new lines, and automation.
Will also oversee the manufacturing process of composite cylinders, tooling, equipment and other engineering tasks. The position is based at the Luxfer Riverside, CA facility.
This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise, and project management skills to drive performance, innovation, and safety within the manufacturing environment.
Essential Functions Of The Job
Leadership and Team Management:
Lead a team of engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support to achieve departmental and organizational goals
Setting project priorities
Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous learning within the engineering team
Set performance goals and provide regular feedback via informal and scheduled reviews
Project Management:
Plan, execute, and oversee engineering projects, including new equipment installations, process improvements, and facility upgrades, within budget and timeline constraints
Coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve project milestones and deliverables
Production Support and Continuous Improvement:
Ensuring the engineering department collaborates with production teams to optimize manufacturing processes, improve product quality, and maximize operational efficiency
Quality and Safety Compliance:
Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, quality requirements, and safety protocols in all engineering activities
Implement best practices and risk mitigation strategies to enhance workplace safety and product quality
Job Skills And Requirements
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience in leading a team of engineers, supervising technical work
Experience in mentoring and developing engineering personnel
Experience with setting up new production line is desirable
Project management experience
Experience in leading cost improvements projects
Proven ability to take initiative and achieve results in a fast-paces and changing environment
Ability to create engineering budget and manage capital plans
Familiarity with CNC machines/controls. Robotics and/or PLC experience an asset
Familiarity with high pressure system design
Familiarity with general programming languages and concepts
Must be able to create and follow processes and procedures
Education/Training Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
Strong technical proficiency in manufacturing processes, automation systems, and equipment maintenance
Proven experience (5+ years) in engineering management within a manufacturing environment
Proven experience (5+ years) in developing, managing, and implementing capital expenditure plans.
Proven experience (5+ years) in metallurgy, machining, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical systems
Compensation Range: $130,000-$145,000
