We are seeking a meticulous Coding Specialist to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in accurately assigning codes for diagnoses and procedures across all patient categories. Your expertise in coding principles, specifically with ICD-10 CM for diagnoses and ICD-10 CM/CPT4 for procedures, will ensure that codes reflect patients' comorbidities and complications effectively.
Key Responsibilities
Assign codes for diagnoses and procedures using appropriate classification systems.
Ensure accuracy in coding to reflect patients' conditions and complications.
Abstract data from medical records and conduct audits to verify coding and grouping accuracy.
Collaborate with the billing department to rectify coding and billing claim errors promptly.
Requirements
High School graduate or equivalent. Associates Degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certification as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or coding certification (CCS or CPC) required.
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in coding with proficiency in ICD-10 and CPT.
Familiarity with Rural Health Clinic (RHC) and Critical Access Hospital (CAH) standards, as well as state medical record requirements, is advantageous.
