Position Summary

Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the School Nutrition Services Department in support of Oklahoma City Public Schools, Oklahoma State Department of Education, United States Department of Agriculture, its' policies, laws and regulations by monitoring and approving, processing, reporting and auditing. Assures quality production is performed using best practices for school food service. Position supervises staff.

  • This position has been classified as Safety Sensitive in accordance with the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act and/or the Department of Transportation (DOT), and Board Policy G-37-R3 Medical Marijuana & SafetySensitive Positions Regulation. All candidates selected for hire or transferred into a Safety Sensitive position must undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen before being hired or transferred. Employees holding safety-sensitive positions may be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment, if they test positive for marijuana components or metabolites, even if they possess a medical marijuana license.**

Essential Duties

  • Ensures district compliance with all local, state and federal guidelines, rules and regulations applicable to the CNS Department as well as the terms and conditions of the support employee negotiated agreement.
  • Works with the Director to establish measurable and achievable financial objectives and goals for the department. Responsible for revenue accounting and projections.
  • Implements efficient management techniques to ensure all records and supporting documentation are maintained in accordance with local, state and federal regulations and laws and policies.
  • Supports the administration and management of office procedures and processes. Maintains operations by preparing policies and standard operating procedures. Implements production, productivity, quality, and customer service standards.
  • Recruits, selects, trains, and disciplines staff, enforcing policies and procedures. Identifies, recommends and resolves personnel issues involving the hiring processes including personnel actions and worker's compensation matters.
  • Assesses kitchen staffing standards on a yearly basis and recommends personnel allocations as necessary.
  • Monitors, evaluates, audits, and recommends food, supplies, and service offerings. Assists in menu planning, surveys and taste tests.
  • Coordinates efforts in achieving and maintaining professional standards of departmental employees. Evaluates, assesses and arranges for professional development for departmental employees.
  • Participates as member of the District Wellness Policy Committee.
  • Establishes and enforces sanitation standards and procedures. Evaluates and recommends for plate waste initiatives.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by tracking emerging trends, attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications.
  • Assists and recommends developing and implementing marketing strategies.
  • Develops quality assurance plans by conducting hazard analyses, identifying critical control points and preventive measures.
  • Coordinates maintenance efforts in kitchen equipment repairs, installations, modifications, removals and inventories.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills And/or Abilities Required)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel and Restaurant Administration, Nutrition, Dietics, Food Service Systems Management or related filed required.
  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience required. ? School food services experience preferred.
