OUTREACH & ADVOCACY COORDINATOR

Primary Purpose

The Outreach & Advocacy Coordinator promotes targeted outreach and coordination of care within LCH&D and externally in local communities and is a brand ambassador to the community on behalf of LCH&D. The Outreach & Advocacy Coordinator plays a vital role in integrating the organization as a whole into the community we serve based on the organizational values of respect, quality, compassion and hope. The Outreach & Advocacy Coordinator attends selected health fairs and social service events in the community, which may occur on weekends or evenings, to represent LCH&D and to distribute educational and promotional materials. The Outreach & Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for maintaining relationships with key local partners such as hospitals, social service agencies and other community organizations by way of partnership or collaboration of teams as defined by Supervisors to further engage LCH&D in community health and wellness efforts.

Education And Certification Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
  • Associate’s Degree preferred

Skill And Experience Requirements

  • Prior experience in a non-profit community healthcare environment is preferred, as is experience with community outreach
  • Must have valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiencies in Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, PowerPoint, Canva and other social media platforms.
  • Must have strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to maintain a calm and professional demeanor and communicate enthusiastically with patients and members of the community.
  • Ability to be responsive in working with a culturally-diverse patient population.
  • Ability to independently coordinate multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others.
  • Must have the ability to represent the organization professionally at all times.
  • Bilingual Spanish speaking is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • A considerable amount of time may be spent working face to face with community members or leaders
  • Extensive use of computer and telephone.
  • Some lifting of supplies and equipment up to 50 lbs.
  • 50% walking or standing, 50% sitting at a desk.
  • Category II re: exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and communicable diseases.
