Duties

  • Manages the planning, scoping, and direction of program areas including religious accommodation law, to establish a consistent and fair application of Religious Accommodations across the Army.
  • Develops plan of action pertinent to the evaluation of assigned projects within the religious accommodation program and develops the agenda of significant issues, which may set policy precedence for the Department of Defense or the Army.
  • Consults and coordinates Army religious accommodation activities and metrics with subject matter experts in the Armed Forces Chaplaincy Board, ASA , and DCS, G-1to ensure consistent application of religious accommodations across the services.
  • Utilizes written and oral communication skills to develop executive level briefings, information papers, and schedule briefings for political appointees, SES members and Army Senior Leadership, ASA (M&RA), DCS, G-1, and the Chief of Chaplains.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • The position is eligible for situational telework only, including emergency and OPM prescribed "unscheduled telework".
  • One year trial period may be required.
  • This position requires the employee to occasionally travel away from the normal duty station (25%) of the time.
  • Incumbent must obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

Position may be filled as a time-limited promotion, reassignment or change to lower grade not to exceed (NTE) 2 Years by a current permanent Army employee.

Time-limited promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years.

Time-limited reassignments and changes to lower grade may exceed five years, however return rights may be impacted.

Position may be made permanent without further competition.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes 1. Managing the planning, scoping, and direction of major projects within the program area. 2. Developing plan of action pertinent to the evaluation of assigned projects. 3. monitoring overall program execution and adjust as necessary based on circumstances and priorities. AND 4. Implementing guidance, laws, regulations, and policy into the development, coordination, and management of assigned programs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-13).

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-13).
