The Project Engineer has skills and experience to take a leading role related to marine installation engineering and operations as well as package management.
The position will normally be assigned to roles in a project which could be: Field Engineer, Lead Engineer and/or operations engineer. Separate role descriptions exists for these roles and should be read in conjunction with this position description.
This description relates to the position located in the USA, but shall be governed by the same updates as the rest of the clients business group.
Purpose
The Project Engineer performs engineering work, preparation activities and operational support as required in the project. They have competence and experience to take leading roles in some aspects of the projects and to manage project packages or subcontracts.
Participating in building installation capabilities for the US such as mobilizing new assets and strengthening engineering and operations teams as required.
Plan, coordinate and supervise offshore campaigns – subject to job experience and seniority
Areas of responsibility
Is responsible for project documents in project such as:
Start-up documents as Master Document Register (MDR), Procurement plan etc.
Technical specifications development and follow-up.
Develop Operational procedures and calculations.
Vessel mobilization and offshore execution.
Documents related to request for quotation from subcontractors.
Supplier documentation review and follow-up.
Take part in Discipline Internal Check, Inter Disciplinary Check and document reviews of the client and subcontractors documents.
As built documentation.
Quality assurance and control documentation.
Follow up and ensure Professional Engineering stamping of relevant documentation
Is responsible for project work such as:
Project Engineer’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to: project execution, technical documentation, technical planning, customer interface, design reviews, subcontractor follow up, on-site support.
Manages the technical scope of delivering assigned package in the project.
Participates as a fully contributing member of a project team.
Project planning, scheduling, status reporting and risk assessment/management for his own scope of work to deliver flawless execution.
Prepares reports, including After Action Reviews for engineering/operation project assignments.
Ability to independently establish work tasks in order to successfully meet expectations.
Manage Scope of work within time, cost and technical requirements.
Design basis data collection, method and equipment selection, analysis and documentation within various fields of expertise of marine engineering and operations (Route preparations, Cable installation, Trenching and Protection). Consults with other departments on equipment designs and questions.
Project specific and The clients corporate HSE and Quality requirements are incorporated in the delegated engineering and procurement activities.
Establishment of interface requirements and assist in resolving interface issues.
Following up of suppliers and subcontracts.
Progress and other meetings with Project team and Client followed by detailed Minutes of Meeting.
Safe Job analysis/HAZOPS/FMEA’s as required in the project. Supports non-conformance investigations and helps identifies root cause of problems.
Offshore/near shore supervision.
Package management as required.
Assist in Continuous Improvement development of the organization by leading or support the Project Lesson Learned process.
Take personal responsibility for own HSE in all involved activities.
Have zero tolerance for poor HSE standards, and intervene to stop unsafe work.
Act like a HSE role model for others.
Training of new personnel.
Tender work.
Research and development of new technologies.
Investment projects.
Required skills and qualifications
Bachelor's of Science in relevant engineering discipline, Master's degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years relevant experience from offshore installation and/or subsea operations.
Engineering experience in projects and fields related to offshore work, subsea cable Installation and protection including development of procedures and equipment design.
Technical and interpersonal leadership skills.
US/ New York /Rhode Island local regulations, contractors, environment knowledge is an advantage.
Excellent English language skills - both written and verbal.

Creative and has an analytical and solution-oriented approach to challenges.
Like to seek more knowledge within own discipline area and other interface areas.
