School Age Childcare Coordinator, Middle Tyger YMCA

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Operations Director and Consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the School Age Childcare Coordinator develops, organizes, and implements high-quality YMCA childcare programs at the branch's other offsite childcare locations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages, directs, and coordinates the After School Program, Parent’s Night Out, and some Summer Camp duties. Ensures high-quality programs and establishes new program activities. Expand the program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Develop schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Observe and evaluate staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. As well as train all After School staff in all policies, procedures, and staff development.
  • Ensure all program fees are collected.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met, and safety procedures followed.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment and ensures the physical environment supports healthy living.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with state childcare licensing agencies, school administration, parent groups, and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent, and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to the program, including participation in the DSS Afterschool Snack Program and ADA accommodations where appropriate.
  • Maintains proper records/department files. i.e. sign in/sign out records, schedules etc.
  • Organizes all special events for parents including Parent’s Night Out.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in the program.
  • Assist the Operations Director in the raising of Annual Campaign funds.
  • Attends training courses and all staff meetings.
  • Manage programs within the Y’s membership and program management system (ReClique/Core).
  • Implement and maintain all discipline policies.
  • Responsible for all safety procedures including serving as a Mandatory Reporting professional. Always maintains a safe environment and always promotes best practices.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Operations Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience required.
  • One to two years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of childcare programs.
  • Minimum age requirements may apply; 25 years of age.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens. As well as any other training the YMCA of Greater Spartanburg requires.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Random drug testing will be administered.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are required within 30 days of hire.
