Security Sales Engineer - Chicago

Summary

Client is looking for a Security Sales Engineer to work with Enterprise customers in the US and Canada. Work is remote and requires an established home office within 45 minutes of a major airport. Travel to customers is required approximately 35% of the time and travel to the corporate office in Westford MA for training and meetings will also occur.

The Sales Engineer is responsible for pre-sales as well as proof of concept (PoC) to customers directly. This role is for a technical resource that can position, design and implement solutions to demonstrate client’s extensive capabilities in order to close potential sales. Successful candidates are subject matter experts in a wide range of security disciplines including network detection and response (NDR).

Successful candidates must have a realistic view of a sales-driven culture and fanatical drive for customer success. This position is fast paced, highly technical, and demands excellent pre-sales, technical account management and communication skills to drive our customer’s success both before and after a sale.

Sales Engineers will report to the Director, Security Specialists and will be required to have significant interaction and consultation with customers and must have a solid understanding and experience of the sales cycle and working with the sales teams throughout the process.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES And REQUIREMENTS

  • Be a technical resource with an influential personality that can drive sales during pre-sales and PoCs highlighting overall value of the client's security solutions.
  • Create and deliver PoCs in client's Experience labs and on customer premises to highlight the value and capabilities of client's security solutions; manage competitive objections, prepare for and run initial and subsequent onsite presentations or host remote presentations.
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure timely and successful closing of security solution sales to potential client's customers.
  • Be the primary point of contact for security solutions pre-sales, investigating the prospect’s needs and developing a technical strategy to win business.
  • Act as a “consultant” to the customer on client's security products after the sale and assist the account team in turning up additional opportunities.
  • Act as a business resource to the sales team and customer to provide “industry expert” executive level selling practices while delivering clear differentiation.
  • Share knowledge in area of expertise and links to related technology areas.


ADDITIONAL DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Exceptional communication skills presenting compelling value of our security products to the diverse needs of the customer’s technical teams as well as C-level executives.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with malware, advanced threats, and typical security analyst workflows and techniques.
  • Strong network experience and fluency in Enterprise architectures.
  • Knowledge of OSI layers 2 -7.
  • Demonstrated proficiency at system integration.
  • Ability to interpret packet captures.
  • Experience responding to or creating RFIs or RFPs.
  • Exceptional time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to achieve goals in a dynamic and flexible work environment.
  • Self-motivated, detailed-oriented work style and strong self-study habits constantly looking for ways to improve both product and process.


EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Seven+ years’ experience working for product organizations in a pre-sales position.
  • Must have experience and demonstrated working with customers to understand their technical challenges and requirements and to have effectively proposed desired solutions.
  • Proven pre-sales record of success and achievement for themselves and their teams.
  • Must also possess technical skills that relate to these areas
    • Hands-on experience using security tools such as Stealthwatch, ExtraHop, Darktrace, Vectra AI, RSA NetWitness, CoreLight, BackTrack, Kali, ZAP, HPING, tcpreplay, Wireshark, etc., a must;
    • Hands-on experience using threat analysis platforms such as CVE, VirusTotal, AlienVault, etc., a must;
    • Hands-on experience with Mitre Framework, Cyber Kill Chain, STIX/TAXII, IOC’s, a must;
    • Network Security threat hunting and incident response, a must;
    • IP, TCP, UDP, NetFlow, a must;
    • Various topologies, LAN, WAN (MPLS, Frame, ATM), a plus;
    • Conducted or participated in security audits, a plus;
    • Trend analysis concepts, a plus;
    • Virtualization, a plus;
    • Public/Private Cloud, a plus;
    • Scripting/programming skills or familiarity, a plus;
    • Formal sales training that teaches pre-sales techniques, a plus;
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field such as Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Music, Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent work experience.
