David Weekley Homes, a progressive leader in the homebuilding industry and nationally recognized for award-winning designs, is seeking a Conceptual Designer with a passion for residential architecture to join our Design team designing concept sketches of single-family homes in a variety of styles across the country.
This position is based at our headquarters in Houston, TX. Non-local candidates must be willing to relocate. We offer relocation assistance within the U.S.
Job Responsibilities
Design targeted state of the art production homebuilder product
Managing projects through the process
Program (product line) analysis
Competition analysis
Balancing design vs. cost per foot
Designing to a targeted price per foot
Job Requirements
15 or more years designing original residential elevations and floor plans. Some experience with residential production design is preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Architecture or closely related field
Highly proficient in designing floor plans and elevations utilizing either freehand design or AutoCAD (or similar software program)
Working knowledge of residential plans and construction drawings
Licensed Architect or someone who has completed the IDP program and is preparing to sit for the exam is a plus
An ideal candidate will possess the following essential soft skills: team player, excellent time and project management, problem solving, sense of urgency, creative, detail oriented, and a great deal of flexibility
