Superior Construction is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator in the heavy / highway sector. Our primary focus is continued growth in our key operating markets (Northwest Indiana, Indianapolis area, and Chicago), but we are also suited for growth into extended Indiana markets, Northeast Illinois, and Southwest Michigan.
Our core markets include bridges, highways, infrastructure, and industrial construction, but our abilities are endless.
Essential Functions
Coordinate and/or attend pre-bid site visits
Setup bids in estimating software (B2W)
Provide bid information to estimating admin for insurance and bonds
Coordinate with the estimating department on bid responsibilities
Assign estimating responsibilities on larger bids, multiple estimators involved
Subcontractor and vendor coordination for bids
Takeoff and costing for bids or designated scopes of work
Develop preliminary project schedule (bid level)
Analyze risk for bids (as required)
Evaluate and develop potential alternative design or constructability options
Conduct bid reviews and ensure all bid review changes have been implemented
Participate in bid closing/submission
Other
B2W Estimate experience is a preference, but not required (HCSS experience is also equivalent)
Develop a priority list of bids/bidding opportunities with the estimating department
Involvement in bidding information updates (rates, productions, database, etc.)
Coordinate project handoff from estimating to operations for successful bids
Develop and maintain relationships with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors
Business development / potential bid opportunities
Development of entry-level estimating staff / estimating recruitment
Competencies
Proficient in estimating software (B2W, Bluebeam, Excel, etc.)
Knowledge of estimating processes
Innovation / Value Engineering
Detail Orientated / Organized
Supervisory Requirements
This position has supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time exempt position. This position may require long hours and weekend work.
Travel
Limited travel, occasional pre-bid meetings or company-required meetings, which may require overnight stays, but are limited.
Required Education And Experience
BS in Construction, Engineering, or other relevant fields of study preferred, but not required
Minimum five years of heavy/civil construction estimating experience
Preferred Education And Experience
Construction industry experience preferred
Additional Eligibility Requirements
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid and appropriate state driver’s license before employment.
