- Cross-departmental collaboration is when you work with one or multiple other departments in your organization. The desired outcome of the collaboration, is to accomplish a goal that could not otherwise be accomplished without working with another department. Why that's important, is because, honestly, that's how you have to get things done a lot of the times. You don't work in a vacuum. You work with lots of other groups of people, and you're going to need their help in order to make things happen. Let's say you're on a tight deadline, and you need to be able to collaborate quickly, maybe break the ice. Well I think the best way to do this, is to find common ground with the people you're collaborating with, and one of the easiest ways to do that, is to ask some simple questions about what they're working on, and why they're doing what they're doing.
