- Being neurodivergent is an identity, and over the years, the individual neurotypes associated with neurodiversity have grown. This video is not exhaustive. The personal nature of identifying as neurodivergent means the definition and list are constantly changing and our understanding and acceptance need to be fluid and agile. Another essential fact to remember before we dive in, is there is no relationship between intelligence and neurotypes. Let's begin with dyspraxia, or developmental coordination disorder, DCD. Dyspraxia affects movement and coordination, both fine and gross motor skills. For example, I identify with verbal dyspraxia. Sometimes it's tough for me to place my mouth to get the words out. When recording this course, I have to break out my lesson into phonics and put a smiley face before a word that starts with a C, to ensure I get the back of my mouth up.
