- [Instructor] People want to be led by people that they know, like, and trust. And when people know, like, and trust you, they are far more willing to be managed or influenced by you. Here are some specific things you can do to build trust with those you lead. First, meet your commitments. If you scheduled a meeting with someone, be on time. If they've asked for something from you, make sure you're delivering it when they need it. We all know that when commitments are met, trust is maintained. As a leader, make sure you're doing that. Next, ask their opinion. Listen, you've got smart people on your team. They know more about their work than you do, in many cases. Ask them what they think, ask their opinion, trust their judgment, and then, listen to them. You don't have to agree with everything they say, but you can listen and understand their perspective, see their point of view, and that in itself is not something…
