- [Instructor] Welcome to the beginning of your Trello journey. If you're unfamiliar with Trello, but you're ready to give it a try, I want to quickly remind you that Trello is a free web-based application and the only requirement to using it is a working internet connection. While they do offer both a free desktop version, as well as a mobile app, for the entirety of this course I will be demonstrating Trello with the web-based version using Chrome. You can also use either Safari or Firefox. Now, to get started, all you need is an email address to set up your account and once you've gone through the registration process, Trello will guide you through a quick visual tutorial. So, welcome to Trello. Let's create our first workspace. For the sake of this course, this is going to be called Trello Essential Training. And for now, I'm not going to worry about who's on my team. So, for now, we're just going to create our first workspace, and I'm not going to worry about any of this for now. So, we're going to go ahead and we're going to skip. And now, here we are at the Trello homepage. So, the Trello homepage is going to contain all of your various workspaces here in various tabs. You can click to see all of your boards. And as of right now, obviously, we only have our one workspace with zero boards. We also have a series of their most popular templates, and if we click on the templates tab very, very quickly you will see there's a whole series of options here. So, if you're opening Trello for the first time and you're thinking I have absolutely no idea what I can do with this program, then this templates tab and all of these categories are a really, really great place for you to start because you can see that they have sorted them and already done a multitude of organization and implementation for you right here. If we go back to the boards tab, you can also see that they have some of their most popular templates up here, but for the sake of this lesson, we're going to go ahead and we are going to create our very first board. So, we're going to create a brand new board and you can see that we can choose a background. For now, we're just going to go something very, very simple and we're going to call this Our First Trello Board. And as far as visibility is concerned, this is a big thing, especially if you're doing things that need to be behind a secure information wall. You can either make this board private, meaning that only you or the board members are assigned can see it. You can make it visible to anybody in the workspace, whether or not they have been assigned to a board, or you can also make your Trello boards public. And I very much want to caution you against doing this unless you understand that anybody on the internet can see this board, including anybody that has access to Google and searches. So, for now, we're going to make this workspace visible and we are going to create our very first Trello board. Now that you better understand how the Trello homepage is organized and how to create a board, I would say hit the pause button, take a second, so you can create your own board so that we can work through this course together step-by-step, and play around with the many features that Trello has to offer.
