- Hi, I'm Rich Harrington. - And I'm Robbie Carman, and Rich this week, we're gonna discuss a sort of specialty piece of gear, that as far as I'm concerned can be invaluable in many situations. - I agree, and a lot of people have never used a neutral-density filter or a variable neutral-density filter, but this really comes in handy. Essentially, this is a screw-on filter that allows you the flexibility to knock down how much light is coming into the camera, and this means that you are freed up to have more options. A lot of times when we're shooting, we want flexibility over the aperture which controls depth of field, but it's quite possible to get too much light into their camera. - [Robbie] Yeah. - [Rich] So by using a neutral-density filter, it really allows you to take control, right? - [Robbie] Yeah, and when it comes to a variable ND filter as its name suggest, well those filters allow you to vary the amount of neutral-density or ND for short, depending on the scene and your…
