- If you have a background in video production, then you're in the right place and you can skip to the next video. If you do need some video production background first, here are my recommendations. You could dive right into my course now, and better understand the spectrum of virtual production. Or you could watch a bunch of related courses first and get an even more solid foundation. Or you could watch my course and then decide which of the many associated areas you might want to learn more about. There is no shortage of interesting topics to explore. So if you want to look at other classes that would help set the table, here they are. The Unreal Essential Training course will give you an excellent foundation in the realtime animation software that powers much of the workflows we'll cover. In terms of filmmaking, we do assume at least a moderate amount of experience behind the camera. If you're new to this world of cameras and sets, you might consider first watching a course on Learning Video Production here on LinkedIn Learning, among many others to choose from based on your needs. Green Screen Techniques for Video and Photography by Richard Harrington will show you how challenging it used to be to create visual effects scenes and why virtual production is such a quantum leap. I've been doing this stuff for long enough to say that the way we used to do it was a lot more challenging and not nearly as creatively fulfilling. There are several other courses that would collectively make a great film school. I recommend you do a LinkedIn Learning search for video production and filter to your skill level and preference to find your perfect match. Virtual production is a massive ecosystem of workflows and technologies. I can and have spent many hours teaching and writing about this subject. This course is designed for anyone interested in leveling up their knowledge of how in-camera visual effects changed the movie production world.
