Employee Spotlight: Joe Ford - Professional Services Engineer

Can you share a bit about your background and what led you to Carbyne?

Previous to Carbyne I spent 6 years in the Marine Corps Reserve. After this I worked as an MSP providing service to multiple systems at local fire departments in and around my community. I found Carbyne on LinkedIn and was blown away by the product.

What do you enjoy most about your job at Carbyne?

I love seeing the difference our products make for the call takers, first responders and citizens. Call takers have an incredibly difficult job and watching our product make a difference for them is amazing. First responders are often walking into situations with lower than needed situational awareness, with Responder Connect we are able to provide that next level situational awareness. Citizens are calling 9-1-1 in what is probably one of the worst moments of their lives, our products provide call takers and first responders additional tools that greatly help in those difficult moments.

Can you highlight a specific accomplishment or project you're particularly proud of?

MACC 911 Go-Live greatly opened my eyes to how amazing call takers are. Day in and day out these are the people who are there for you when you need someone the most, being able to improve their workflows was a great experience.

Can you recall a memorable or fun moment you've had at work?

I enjoy overcoming challenges. Not everything will always line up perfectly, so you have to be willing to adapt and overcome challenges. We have an amazing team culture here, and from the top down, we always show up for each other. Collaboration is key and teamwork makes the dream work.

Outside of work, what are some personal achievements or hobbies you're passionate about?

I have a 3 month old son and an amazing wife that I spend all my time with. We love doing trips to different breweries or wineries. We live half a mile from the ocean and try to get down to the beach as often as possible.

What keeps you motivated, and who or what inspires you?

Becoming a father has greatly changed my outlook on the world. As a parent, my focus is setting the best example for my son, and doing my part to make the world a better place. At Carbyne we are constantly driving cutting-edge technology in an industry that historically hasn't had this level of innovation. My laptop background has the words "Every Person Counts" on it and it's a constant silent reminder that I'm part of an amazing team that is actively making a difference in the world.

What advice do you have for your colleagues to succeed and enjoy their work?

  1. Don't be afraid to have ego-less conversations.

  2. Be a subservient leader and be a point of enablement and escalation.

  3. Be a team player.

Joe is an outstanding colleague! He is extremely knowledgeable, professional, and dedicated. I’m pretty sure he’s not human! 🤖🦾

An exceptional young man. But then again I a bit biased here. I'm his Dad.
