HUDDL3 Response to the Removal of Abortion as a Federally Protected Right

Dear Valued Employee,

The loss of a fundamental right relied upon for the last fifty years can be both disorienting and disturbing. The senior leadership at HUDDL3 want you to know that we unequivocally oppose the removal of a federally protected right to an abortion.

Decisions regarding personal health care are deeply personal for employees and their families. As a company, we navigate difficult times together by referring to our core values:

Be Pioneering

We are pioneering when we recognize that we cannot build a strong foundation for business and community without others’ respecting our personhood, and thus, we must respect theirs.

Be Human-Centered

We are human-centered when we consider how this will disproportionately impact low-income families. Seventy-five percent of people who get abortions live below the poverty line, and 60 percent are people who have given birth before (Guttmacher 2019).

Share in Success

We share in success when we enable people to determine how they want to pursue success and with whom they share it. With abortion now being decided at the state level, individuals with time and financial resources will have access to safe, medically provided abortions. In contrast, low-income individuals may be left to make tough, sometimes impossible, choices.

We are neither pioneering, human-centered, nor sharing in success when we fail to consider the effect of restrictive abortion laws on those who are the most vulnerable and least able to choose what is best for them and their families.

Our commitment is that all our employees have equitable access to healthcare in the United States, regardless of where they reside and their financial ability to travel distances that allow them access to their healthcare needs. As a result, HUDDL3 announces the development of a workgroup that will continually assess and plan our company’s responses. The workgroup has ensured our insurance coverage covers elective abortions and will monitor when providers stop performing such services in given states and how we can support employees and their family members if travel is required or permissible.

One thing that makes us unique at HUDDL3 is that we have employees from all walks of life with different experiences and beliefs. Diversity of thought is a strategic advantage to our business. So, remember that when speaking about current events, your personal views may or may not be shared by your coworkers.

Warm Regards,

Dane Groeneveld
