It’s been a blast catching up with industry colleagues, government, clean energy advocates, and other stakeholders at the Alliance for Clean Energy New York Fall Conference! From effective stakeholder engagement to building bipartisan support for clean energy, the conference offered diverse perspectives and great optimism on New York’s #cleanenergy transition. It was amazing to hear NYSERDA’s Doreen Harris declare that NY is undaunted in its commitment to a clean energy transition. Did you know NY is expected to go from 150 terawatt-hours of electricity consumption in 2023 to 230 terawatt-hours by 2050? To address climate change and the increasing demand for energy generation and reliability, we must realize what keynote speaker, Congressman Goldman, called the “imperative and opportunity” of clean energy. Last week, Bluepoint Wind participated in the Town of Old Bridge's back-to-school beach bash! It was fantastic to engage with the community and address questions about offshore wind energy at the picturesque Laurence Harbor. Bluepoint Wind remains committed to community engagement, sharing information about the industry and gaining valuable feedback from local residents.

This past weekend, the Bluepoint Wind team was out spending time with communities in New York and New Jersey. On Saturday, Eric C. Henry joined the town of Hempstead in Long Island for a beach cleanup. We are proud to take part in the community's efforts to keep the environment clean and safe. The beautiful weather was a bonus!   Over in New Jersey, Sean Simmers joined the Middlesex County E.A.R.T.H. Center for their annual Art and Music Festival. The team shared information on our project, learned about local environmental efforts, and enjoyed local musicians!    The Bluepoint Wind team continually looks for ways to not only educate the public on offshore wind, but also support existing initiatives and programs that uplift communities. We look forward to continuing these efforts for years to come!

Yesterday, Bluepoint Wind joined Newark Public Schools for a Back-to-School Kick-off event hosted by the District's Office of Federal Programs & Grants. The goal of the event was to show support to the Newark community by providing students and their families with a chance to learn about various #Newark community-based organizations, participate in fun learning stations 👨🔬 , and receive free backpacks 🎒 , school supplies ✏, and books 📚 to build their home library. We were on hand with community partners like United Way of Greater Newark and Students 2 Science, and spent the time engaging students with STEM giveaways and clean energy-themed books and project information.   Bluepoint Wind is proud to support the Newark community and to share on the benefits that offshore wind will bring to communities throughout the NJ/NY region.

Bluepoint Wind would like to congratulate our CEO John Dempsey on his appointment to the Board of Trustees for our community partner, Students 2 Science. Students 2 Science (S2S) is a STEM educational program for local youth that brings students from underserved school districts to their state-of-the-art labs in Newark and East Hanover for in-person experiments and activities. They also conduct numerous virtual labs for schools across the #GardenState. This summer ☀ , the Bluepoint Wind team has been out and about with our community partner, SouthWardEA SWEA in Newark, New Jersey , to support its initiatives to educate the community about topics like #greencareers , the environment 🌳 , and renewable energy. In July, Eric C. Henry and Sean Simmers visited local Newark Public Schools to speak about offshore wind and provide a virtual reality experience of OW Ocean Winds' WindFloat Atlantic offshore wind farm to students in summer enrichment programming. These students, ranging from fourth grade to eighth grade, were able to learn about the basics of the industry, the importance of STEM 🔬 , and how the clean energy sector will positively impact their local communities.   Last week, Lisa Wood also joined SWEA to celebrate the launch of its Green Alliance Leadership Academy (GALA), which aims to give participants the requisite skills, information, and training to pursue careers in environmentally sustainable industries. Bluepoint Wind is excited to serve the community in this initiative through instruction on the development and construction of offshore wind farms and the types of jobs involved 👷♀️ .   Bluepoint Wind looks forward to supporting SWEA around our shared goal of spreading green career awareness and providing OSW workforce development for all ages. Engaging the future #cleanenergy workforce early is essential to ensuring that the benefits of our industry are spread equitably across the #GardenState.

Every Wednesday from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM, our community partner Newark Science and Sustainability hosts a training program on clean energy. For this week's session, we are excited to join at Rutgers Business School here in Newark! Tonight marks the halfway point of this 6 week program, and Bluepoint Wind Senior Integration Manager, Dylan Mills, will be presenting on how offshore wind farms are developed and operated!
