Über uns

Hello! I’m Chief J, the Defense Health Agency Senior Enlisted Leader. People are at the heart of everything I do, and the weight of that responsibility is why I’ve made it my mission to work for, and in support of, you and those we’re privileged to serve. I’m excited to work together to build a culture of trust, mutual respect, and cooperation. I promise to be your advocate and your voice and remove barriers when I can. I want to know what’s on your mind so I can better support our shared mission. In return, I promise to do my best to give you what you need, even if it’s not always what you want. You’ll often hear me refer to my leadership philosophy as TEAM, but I want you to know that it’s also my solemn vow to make decisions that help you do your job to the best of your ability. To be transparent and do my best to close gaps when I can. To energize and empower you to be your best self. To hold you, and myself, accountable. Above all, it’s a promise to make a difference every single day. Together, we will take this Agency to the next level, creating an environment where every member of our team can thrive. Thank you for placing your trust in me.

  • An organization is only as good as its people, and the Director and I know how lucky we are to have such an incredible team here at the Defense Health Agency. We also know great teams don’t just happen – they're built. And they work together to get after a shared mission. That happens when everyone at every level of the organization understands and embodies our Core Values: • Dependability: We are trustworthy, honest about our performance, and follow through on our commitments. • Humility: We focus on listening, are compassionate, and we take an active interest in understanding the needs and concerns of our teammates, partners, and patients. • Agility: We adapt quickly and innovate effectively when presented with new opportunities and new challenges. These Core Values speak to who we are today and who we want to be in the future. They also help us grow a culture where people feel heard and know their work is valued and keep us rowing in the same direction as we drive the evolution of health care. Meet Michael DeLaTorre, MBA, Management Engineer, Manpower and Organization Division, San Antonio, TX AGILITY: In his senior year of high school, Mr. DeLaTorre suffered a severe Traumatic Brain Injury, going from an IQ of 138 to 86, losing his ability to speak fluent German and do all forms of math. Today he has spent more than 36 years as a civil servant, trained as an Air Force Management Engineer in the Palace Acquire Intern Program, AMEDD MARC Analyst, Order of Military Medical Merit recipient, Lean Six Sigma Black Belt, developer of manpower requirements standards and models for the Air Force, Army, and DHA. He can also speak German again, and has regained his advanced math abilities, which proves perseverance has a lot to do with overcoming a TBI. He is currently working with Health Care Operations (HCO) on the development and creation of the Clinical Centers of Excellence manpower staffing models for the Burn Unit, Maxio facial, Ocular Trauma, and Oncology. In a collaboration with HCO, Mr. DeLaTorre is also assisting with developing manpower models for the 10 distinct areas of Inpatient Nursing, Inpatient Nursing portion of Respiratory Therapy, Urgent Care, Sleep Medicine, Emergency Medicine, Public Health, and Hospitalists. He is dependable and can be trusted to quickly develop models, meets all suspense dates, develops new formulas and spreadsheet formats, listens to customers’ needs and concerns, and works with the HCO team in a collaborative approach to meet the intent of our shared goal. With his wealth of knowledge and experience, he is an incredible asset to both HCO and DHA. #DHAProud| #DHASpotlight #WorkforceWednesday

Meet Lee Ann Baize, RN, Triage Nurse in the Women’s Health Clinic Acute Care Unit at Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center, Fort Cavazos, TX HUMILITY: Lee Ann is an excellent nurse who not only goes above and beyond to help her patients, but also the providers and her fellow nurses. Even when she is having a bad day, you will never hear it in her tone or see it in her approach with patients. She has shown compassion, concern, and empathy every day of her 12 years at CRDAMC, always having the patient’s best interest at heart. #DHAProud | #WorkforceWednesday | #DHASpotlight

  • Thanks to Hospital Corpsman Third Class Andrew Cox, Hospitalman Madison Wheeler, and the team at Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune for giving us a behind the scenes tour of their emergency department. The Director and I appreciate the care you provide to those we’re privileged to serve. #DHAProud

Days in our Emergency Department and Trauma Center can get hectic, but we are proud of our incredible team who cares for our patients with compassion and respect. Our #NavyMedicine Corpsmen make up a large part our ED/Trauma staff. To see what their life is like day-to-day, our communications team followed Hospital Corpsman Third Class Andrew Cox and Hospitalman Madison Wheeler for a behind-the-scenes look at their immense health care responsibilities. What we found was not just thoughtful health care delivery but the forging of human connections. We hope you’ll enjoy learning about their love of their jobs as much as we did! BRAVO ZULU to our ED and Trauma Center teams! #MilitaryHealth #GONAVY
