The inaugural season of Mustang Challenge is well underway, with each race offering more excitement than the last. Ford Performance is no stranger to motorsports innovation, and the Mustang Challenge series is no exception. Mustang Challenge, created with IMSA - International Motor Sports Association as the sanctioning body for the series, aims to give track enthusiasts the unique opportunity to compete in a factory-built race car alongside matched competition. The innovative prize structure of this series is intended to foster a racing progression for Mustang Challenge teams and drivers, including a scholarship towards a GT4 or GT3 racing effort for first-place.  The Mustang Dark Horse R is a track only vehicle created to be the official race car of the series. Powered by a 500+HP fourth-generation 5.0-liter Coyote V8, the Dark Horse R provides an entry point for those looking to one day race a Mustang GT4 or Mustang GT3. The Mustang Dark Horse R has been artfully designed and engineered by Ford Performance. The new for 2024 Mustang comes equipped with upgraded Brembo front brakes, Sparco safety features, and racing slicks developed specifically for Mustang Challenge by Michelin. Since the Dark Horse R is production-based from the Dark Horse Mustang, many parts on the vehicle can be purchased at local Ford dealers all around the country. We've teamed up with some of the leading teams in the game to bring a new face to the world of off-road racing. Introducing the all new Ford Raptor T1+: the culmination of Raptor design and off-road capability. Engineered in collaboration with M-Sport UK Ltd, the Ford Raptor T1+ features an advanced suspension, V8 performance, and mindfully crafted design allowing for tackling the most unrelenting terrain all around the globe. The teams took learnings from this year's Dakar Rally and applied their knowledge to deliver a new and innovative vehicle, constantly pushing the boundaries of true performance. Global Director of Ford Performance Motorsports, Mark Rushbrook, says "the Ford Raptor T1+ is a stake in the ground for our global off-road vision – we want to take on the best and prove ourselves in the toughest places on earth." ⛰️ Ford Performance Takes on Pikes Peak with the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck ⚡ Ford Performance is thrilled for our return to "America's Mountain" this week for the 102nd running of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, brought to you by Gran Turismo. We’re taking this opportunity to advance our research and development of electric powertrains with the debut of our new EV demonstrator vehicle: the F-150 Lightning SuperTruck. Drawing inspiration from our electric pickup, the F-150 Lightning, the SuperTruck is enhanced with improved aerodynamics and power to conquer the challenging 12.5-mile uphill course. Developed in collaboration with Ford Performance, Ford Design and STARD, this vehicle attains 6,000 lbs of downforce at 150 mph. 🔋 EV Innovation in Action This marks our second consecutive year at Pikes Peak with an electric demonstrator vehicle. Last year, our 1,400-horsepower Electric SuperVan 4.2 set a class record and clinched a class victory. The Pikes Peak Hill Climb is the perfect proving ground for our EV powertrains, pushing the limits on twisting mountain roads and extreme conditions. 🔧 Rolling Laboratories Our performance-minded rolling laboratories, like the Mustang Super Cobra Jet 1800, which recently broke the world record for the fastest quarter-mile pass, help us develop and refine crucial components such as motors, inverters, and battery packs. These learnings directly enhance our production vehicles, ensuring our customers get the best in EV technology. The F-150 Lightning SuperTruck EV Demonstrator is the latest iteration of that. 🏎️ Expanding Horizons Our innovations extend far beyond Pikes Peak. We're also gleaning valuable insights from our latest EV demonstrator, the F-150 Lightning Switchgear, an on-road/off-road powerhouse developed with RTR, and the Mustang Mach-E 1400. Our advancements in hybrid powertrains are pulled from learnings in World Rally Championship and will be pivotal in our strategic partnership with Oracle Red Bull Racing as we reenter Formula 1 in 2026.
