NAVFAC Southwest is looking for a motivated individual to join our Environmental Division at Naval Air Station Fallon (NASF), Nevada, as a Tribal Relations Liaison. In this key role, you’ll be the primary point of contact for Native American Tribal stakeholders, ensuring respectful and meaningful government-to-government relationships. You’ll work closely with Tribes to preserve cultural resources, advise on policies, and facilitate communication between the Navy and Sovereign Indian Nations. Key Responsibilities: - Serve as the subject matter expert on Tribal relations and cultural preservation. - Facilitate consultation processes while respecting Tribal sovereignty. - Advise and counsel on Tribal history, culture, and relationship-building. Last week, our summer interns had an incredible opportunity to experience the dynamic and impactful work happening at NAVFAC Southwest. During a visit to the Navy’s Marine Mammal Program at Point Loma, they learned firsthand how bottlenose dolphins and California sea lions are trained to safeguard our harbors and coasts, showcasing the unique blend of technology and nature that makes our work so special. In addition to witnessing these remarkable marine mammals in action, the interns observed a new pier being built at Point Loma Naval Station, gaining valuable insights into the critical infrastructure projects that support our Navy's mission.
