GENTEXT/REMARKS/1.  Purpose.  The assignment of Marine officers to
the United States Service Academies requires high caliber
individuals for positions that support the accession of junior
officers into the military service within the Department of Defense
and Department of Transportation.  Per reference (A) on 10 June
2024, a panel convened at Headquarters Marine Corps selected
officers for assignment to the United States Naval Academy (USNA),
the United States Military Academy (USMA), the United States
Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), and the Naval Academy Preparatory
School (NAPS) during AY25.
2.  The panel selected the following officers to serve at the
Service Academies.

3.  This message serves as notification of orders for officers
listed in paragraph 2.  Selected officers are directed to contact
their PMOS monitor NLT 2359 10 July 2024 to acknowledge their
selection.
3.a.  Selected officers who have not yet accepted Career Designation
(CD) will be offered CD in conjunction with this assignment.
Retention & Release Officer, MMOA-3 will notify all selectees being
offered CD via Marine Online (MOL).  Officers offered CD must accept
or decline by responding via MOL NLT 2359 10 July 2024.  Officers
who do not respond by the deadline will be considered as having
declined CD.  Officers who decline the offer of CD in conjunction
with this panel selection will execute their current End of Active
Service IAW MCO 1001.65A and forfeit their selection to their
respective Service Academy.
3.b.  Once an officer acknowledges their selection, they are subject
to reference (b) and (c).
3.c.  Officers not attending Naval Postgraduate School (NPS) will be
issued orders to their respective Service Academy upon the release
of this message.  The report date unless otherwise directed by their
respective Service Academy will be NLT 31 May 2025.
3.c.1.  Officers currently attending NPS will receive orders that
correlate with their respective course graduation dates.
3.d.  There is no deferral of selection.
3.e.  Declinations.  Requests for declination by officers who
volunteered and were selected for Service Academy duty will not
receive favorable consideration.  Only officers whose end of
obligated service ends prior to the report date may request to
decline orders.  Officers eligible to decline this assignment have
until 2359 10 July 2024 to decline their selection.  Officers who
elect to decline their selection are considered to have resigned in
lieu of orders. Officers who resign in lieu of orders will exit the
service NLT the last day of the month they were required to report
to their future unit, NLT 31 May 2025.
3.e.1.  Officers currently attending NPS are not authorized to
decline their selection based on obligated service incurred via
their Graduate Education program.
4.  Vacant positions.  Per paragraph 2, there are three vacancies
the panel did not select an officer to fill.  These requirements
will therefore be filled through the normal officer assignment
process.  Interested officers must reach out to their individual
Primary MOS monitor to discuss their eligibility.  The vacant
positions are as follows.
4.a.  USNA 8006, Capt, Aerospace Instructor.  Instruct Aerospace
Engineering courses to undergraduate students within the school of
Engineering and Weapons.  A Master’s degree in Aeronautical
Engineering is required.
4.b.  USNA 8006, Capt, Languages Instructor.  Serve as a language
instructor in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Language
Department.  Teaching proficiency in Spanish, Chinese, or Japanese
language is preferred.  A Master’s degree of any type is required
with a current demonstrated L2+/R2+ DLPT proficiency.  Russian,
German, French, or Arabic languages will also be considered.
4.c.  USMA 0302, Capt/Maj, Instructor/Marine Corps Representative.
Serve as an instructor and representative to the Marine Corps for
West Point cadets.  Master’s Degree not required; Maneuver 
Captains Career Course graduate preferred.
5.  Coordinating Instructions
5.a.  Officers selected to the LEAD Master’s Program will incur 36
months of obligated service upon completion of their LEAD Master’s
Degree.  Each officer will have 12 months of obligated service
remaining at the end of their USNA tour and should expect to receive
PCA/PCS orders near the completion of their tour to execute in the
summer of 2028.  The end of obligated service for a LEAD Master’s
selectee is projected to be 1 July 2029.
5.b.  Officers selected above who are currently attending NPS will
incur 48 months of obligated service upon completion of their NPS
degree program. Each officer will have 12 months of obligated
service remaining at the end of their USNA tour and should expect to
receive PCA/PCS orders near the completion of their tour to execute
in the summer of 2028.  The end of obligated service for officers
currently attending NPS and selected for service at USNA is
projected to be 1 July 2029.
5.c.  Officers selected in paragraph 2 who do not fall into the two
categories above will incur obligated service IAW the Joint Travel
Regulations and reference (b).
