BOSTON — With All-Star Tanner Houck on the mound, the Red Sox likely didn’t need much offense entering Thursday’s game against the A’s. They got more than enough from Wilyer Abreu, Masataka Yoshida and others.
Boston pounced on fill-in starter Luis Medina for three runs in the first, then behind homers from Connor Wong, Abreu and Yoshida, cruised to a 7-0 win as Houck logged six shutout innings. The Red Sox, with their third straight series win, improved to 51-41. They’ve won eight of their last 10 games and at 18-7, have the best record in baseball in their last 25 games.
