This is the first meeting between the rivals in the Bronx this season. Boston won a three-game series, 2-1, over New York at Fenway Park June 14-16.

Yankees starter Nestor Cortes has allowed one hit and no walks while striking out four batters over 3 scoreless innings. Romy Gonzalez has the game’s lone hit, a double.

New York entered this weekend series 54-35 (.607 winning percentage), two games behind first-place Baltimore in the AL East standings. The Yankees have gone 5-13 since June 14 when they began their series in Boston.

The Red Sox have gone 12-5 since then.
