All evacuation orders for the Thompson Fire, near Lake Oroville, were downgraded to warnings on Friday.

At its peak, shortly after the fire started on Tuesday, July 2, the order covered almost 50 square miles from the lake’s western shore into Oroville and north to Oregon City.

As of Friday afternoon, the fire had burned 3,789 acres (5.9 square miles) and was 55% contained, said the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection.
