Facebook seeks a highly motivated, team player to serve as Litigation Counsel for the EMEA region in the civil litigation team. You will be deeply involved with and assist in the defense of both complex litigation matters and smaller individual claims, advising internal teams on legal risks. The role requires good judgment, a strong work ethic, and a keen interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law. Litigation Counsel Responsibilities
  • Direct and collaborate with outside counsel on multiple litigation matters with a content, consumer and data protection focus
  • Provide legal advice and assist in managing all phases of complex litigation matters, including conducting investigations, as well as independently running a docket of smaller matters
  • Assist in developing litigation strategies in relation to high-profile, precedent setting matters pending before national and European courts
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams on public policy, content and privacy policy, product, intermediary liability, data privacy and wider commercial issues
  • Develop creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes
  • Ensure work product of the highest quality that furthers Facebook’s strategic goals
Minimum Qualifications
  • Qualified lawyer with 3+ years PQE in a law firm or in-house
  • Strong litigation experience, including experience dealing with matters before higher and/or appellate courts, ideally across multiple jurisdictions. If you are in private practice, you should work in a relevant litigation department, in-house you should work on litigation as a core part of your role.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines with thoroughness and accuracy
  • Candidates must be flexible and willing to work on projects in other areas
  • Familiarity with Internet laws and issues, particularly GDPR and its application to online platforms, as well as an understanding of the E-Commerce Directive, DSA and other content-related legislation and a proven record of advising on these in litigation where relevant.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with internet or technology companies a plus
  • Additional language skills helpful but not essential
