Began the season on Minnesota’s Taxi Squad after being optioned from Twins spring training on March 29…was recalled on April 3 when Josh Donaldson went on the injured list… played in just three games for the Twins from April 4-6, going 1-for-11 with one RBI, before he was placed on 10-day injured list with a cervical sprain on April 7…was reinstated on April 20 and played in just five more games with the Twins before he was optioned to Triple-A St. Paul on April 29…homered in three-straight games from June 19-22 and finished June with nine home runs in 24 games…went 4-for-6 with a double, three home runs and seven RBI on July 13 vs. Columbus… named Twins minor league Player of the Week on July 18, hitting .308 (8-for-26) with one double, five home runs, 13 RBI and a 1.290 OPS…hit .258 with nine doubles, one triple, 18 home runs, 41 RBI and a .974 OPS in 51 games from June 2-July 31 and was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul on July 23, spending the rest of the season with Minnesota…hit 20 home runs in 62 games overall for the Saints, tied for fourth most among all Twins farmhands…recorded his first three-hit game on July 27 vs. Detroit, hitting one double and two singles…set a career high with four hits in five at-bats, including one home run and two RBI, on Aug. 13 vs. Tampa Bay…placed on the paternity list from Sept. 13-16 as he and his wife, Allie, had their first child, daughter Blair Evelyn, on Sept. 13…went 2-for-4 with a double, home run and two RBI in his first game back on Sept. 17 at Toronto…played 38 games (35 starts) in left field and eight games (7 starts) in right field…combined to hit .225 with 18 doubles, one triple, 29 home runs, 65 RBI and an .820 OPS in 120 games between St. Paul and Minnesota…was hit by a pitch nine times, which was second most by a Twins rookie in a single season, trailing only Marty Cordova’s 10 in 1995…ranked second among American League rookies in hit by pitches and fifth in the majors.
