Parker Meadows will start in center field and bat eighth in his first game back with the Detroit Tigers.

The Tigers (39-48) and Cincinnati Reds (42-45) play Friday at 7:10 p.m. at Great American Ballpark.

Meadows was recalled from Triple-A Toledo, taking the spot of Akil Baddoo.

Catcher Jake Rogers; infielders Andy Ibanez and Zach McKinstry; and infielder/outfielder Mark Canha will be available off the bench. The full lineup is below.

On the mound, Tigers right-hander Reese Olson (2-8, 3.32 ERA) will face Reds righty Carson Spiers (2-1, 3.13).

Spiers signed with the Reds after going unselected out of Clemson University in the COVID-shortened 2020 draft.

He made his debut and pitched briefly in 2023 and has done well while getting a longer look in 2024. Spiers has 29 strikeouts and seven walks in 37 1/3 innings. This will be his ninth appearance of the season and his fourth start.

Spiers has allowed only one home run this year and none at Great American Ballpark, the Reds’ hitter-friendly home stadium.

Olson struck out nine in a strong six-inning performance on June 29 in Anaheim, Calif. The Tigers ultimately lost to the Angels in 10 innings.

The Reds’ lineup is below.
