A proud upstate native, Benny Nezaj officially joined NBC5 in June 2023 as the Northern New York reporter. Benny is originally from Albany and has always had a fascination for television ever since his early days. Benny attended SUNY Plattsburgh studying broadcast journalism, TV productions and political science. He graduated Summa Cum Laude in May 2023. While in college, Benny was heavily involved with Plattsburgh State Television. This included anchoring the school’s evening newscasts, starring in PSTV original shows, and serving as the social media manager. Benny was also the public relations chair for the Nu Theta Gamma Fraternity. Before coming to NBC5, Benny was a news intern for a local NY television station. Through his internship, he was able to gain part-time multimedia journalism experience by reporting stories from Plattsburgh and Burlington. In addition to being an avid sports fan and traveler, Benny loves the close-knit communities that make up the North Country, as well as its proximity to the Adirondacks, Lake Champlain and Canada.
