The Bridgerton Family Tree: Climb the Ton’s Aristocratic Branches

Your comprehensive guide to Mayfair’s most illustrious families.
    June 21, 2024

The Bridgerton world is one of romance and passion. But it’s also about family. All those meddlesome mamas wouldn’t be so obsessed with the marriage mart if the power of the ton didn’t come from the strength of bloodlines and promise of continuing a lineage through children.

Bridgerton Season 3, which is now streaming, sees one beloved character get serious about society’s dating game: Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). The Featheringtons’ youngest daughter enters the new social season determined to find a worthy husband. But as Penelope looks to make a match, her longtime pal Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) realizes he’s the perfect candidate to wed his wallflower neighbor.

As the Bridgertons and Featheringtons combine bloodlines, explore the family trees of the two broods at the center of Season 3. You can also traverse the rest of the ton’s most illustrious families with guides to the royal family and the Danburys.

The royal family

Meet the clan at the very top of the ton in the Bridgerton universe. The rulers of England — and the social stratosphere.

Princess Augusta

A woman who, like Queen Charlotte, married into the royal family. In Queen Charlotte, Princess Augusta is the mother of King George and the wife of the late Prince Frederick, who died before ever ascending the throne.

Queen Charlotte

The leading lady of Queen Charlotte and England’s ultimate discerning matriarch. While Queen Charlotte reigns over the United Kingdom, she hails from the territory of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. Queen Charlotte would have 15 children in her lifetime.

King George

Queen Charlotte’s king and the most powerful man in England. He is as mysterious as he is handsome and was raised to be royal. In the Regency era, George has left public life.

Adolphus

Queen Charlotte’s older brother and a royal himself in the territory of Mecklenburg-Strelitz.

Prince Regent George

The first son of Queen Charlotte and King George, whose royal title gives the Bridgerton era its Regency name.

The royal children

King George and Queen Charlotte’s children, in descending order: Prince Regent George, Prince Frederick, Prince William, Princess Charlotte, Prince Edward, Princess Augusta, Princess Elizabeth, Prince Ernest, Prince Augustus, Prince Adolphus, Princess Mary, Princess Sophia.

The Bridgertons
Violet and Edmund Bridgerton

One of the most popular and influential families in the Regency era of Bridgerton. In Queen Charlotte, we get a peek into their lineage.

Lord Ledger

A kindly aristocrat in the Queen Charlotte era. Husband of Lady Ledger and proud father of Violet Bridgerton, née Ledger. He also had a relationship with Lady Danbury.

Lady Ledger

The wife of Lord Ledger and mother of Violet. Unlike her husband, she is less than enthused about the Great Experiment.

Dowager Viscountess Violet Bridgerton

One of the ton’s most caring mamas. Violet was born a Ledger and went on to marry Viscount Edmund Bridgerton. She’s the mother of eight wildly distinct and charming children.

Viscount Edmund Bridgerton

The beloved late father of the Bridgerton brood. Violet and Edmund fell in love during childhood. He died before the birth of his youngest child, Hyacinth Bridgerton.

Anthony and Kathani Bridgerton

Viscount Anthony Bridgerton

The head of the Bridgerton family in the Regency era. The first child of Viscount Edmund and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton and devoted husband of Viscountess Kate Bridgerton, née Sharma. A man who loves his wife so ferverntly, he does not believe marriage is hard work. The couple now awaits the arrival of their first child.

Viscountess Kathani Bridgerton

The headstrong but loving and loyal wife of Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. Although Kathani — better known as Kate to her friends — was raised in India, she now calls England home. A woman who loves her husband so passionately, she knows marriage is hard work. She and Anthony travel back to India to welcome their first child.

Benedict Bridgerton

Benedict Bridgerton

The second child of Viscount Edmund and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton. A soulful artist with an appetite for merrymaking, Benedict is quite looking forward to his mother’s upcoming masquerade ball.

Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington

Colin Bridgerton

The third child of Viscount Edmund and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton. Colin has a traveler’s heart but put his roots down in Mayfair at last, alongside his wife, fellow writer Penelope Bridgerton. They share a son, who, by a twist of fate, is both a Bridgerton and the next Lord Featherington.

Penelope Featherington

The brilliant and brave wife of Colin Bridgerton. The youngest daughter of Lord and Lady Featherington is now the mother to the heir of the family. Penelope is a dreamer and a doer, as proven by her previous success as scandal sheet writer Lady Whistledown — and other current writing accomplishments under her own name.

Daphne Simon and August Basset

Duchess Daphne Basset

The fourth child of Viscount Edmund and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton and the family’s eldest daughter. Following an eventful first season as a debutante, Daphne is now married to the sought-after Duke Simon with whom she has a son, August.

Duke Simon Basset

A reformed rake, much like his brother-in-law Viscount Anthony. He’s the Duke of Hastings and has grown to love family following lifelong estrangement from his own father.

August Basset

The heir to the Basset name, the first child of Duke and Duchess Basset, and the first grandchild of Dowager Viscountess Bridgerton. He’s often called Augie.

Eloise, Francesca, Gregory, and Hyacinth Bridgerton

Eloise Bridgerton

The fifth child of Viscount Edmund and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton. While Eloise often has her head in a book, she’s taking her eyes off the page and heading toward adventure as she joins newlywed Francesca on her journey to Scotland.

Francesca Stirling, Lord John Stirling, and his cousin Michaela Stirling

Lady Francesca Stirling

The sixth child of Viscount Edmund and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton is her family’s most introverted member and the new Countess of Kilmartin. After a hectic first season in the marriage mart, Francesca wed Lord John Stirling, the Earl of Kilmartin.

Lord John Stirling

The Earl of Kilmartin is a kind — but quiet — soul.  A fellow of few words, Francesca’s husband is also a gentleman of great romantic gestures. John’s primary estate is in Scotland.

Michaela Stirling

The dear cousin of Lord John. Michaela is quick to laugh, which will likely come in handy as she travels with the new Earl and Countess of Kilmartin back to the Highlands.

Gregory Bridgerton and Hyacinth Bridgerton

Gregory Bridgerton

The seventh child of Viscount Edmund and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton.

Hyacinth Bridgerton

The eighth child of Viscount Edmund and Viscountess Violet Bridgerton. Hyacinth was born following the abrupt death of her father.

Newton Bridgerton

A corgi. The cutest member of the Bridgerton family. Viscount Anthony and Viscountess Kate’s beloved pup.

The Featheringtons
The Baby Lord Featherington, who is technically the head of the family now
The Featherington family.

If Versace were around during the Regency era, this family would be dripping in it. Below their glittering surface lies a heart of gold.

The Baby Lord Featherington

The wee new heir to the Featherington name, beloved by his proud writer parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bridgerton.

Lord Archibald Featherington

The initial head of the Featherington family in Bridgerton and husband to Portia. His vast debts lead to his death in Season 1.

Lady Portia Featherington

The matriarch of the Feathingtons and mother to three opinionated daughters. Lord Archibald’s death leaves her a widow in need of all her wiles to survive. A new grandmother to three babies.

Prudence Dankworth

The eldest daughter of Lord and Lady Featherington. Prudence is often seen as Portia’s favorite child, and isn’t afraid to remind anyone of her status in the family.

Harry Dankworth

The very … pretty husband of Prudence. Although he has looks in spades, he lacks a title.

Baby Dankworth

The first child of Harry and Prudence, a daughter whom her Featherington grandmother already expects to marry well.

Philippa Finch

The second daughter of Lord and Lady Featherington. She doesn’t exactly share her younger sister Penelope’s passion for reading.

Albion Finch

The very doting husband of Philippa. Much to Lady Portia’s dismay, Albion, like her other son-in-law Harry, lacks a title, despite being a member of the ton.

Philomena Finch

The first daughter of Albion and Philippa Finch. Philomena’s mother predicts she’ll be a great writer without any need for a husband — just like her Aunt Penelope (who chose to marry the love of her life).

Jack Featherington

A distant relative of Archibald. Following Archibald’s death, Jack arrives in London to assume the title of Lord Featherington. It was a short-lived stint, as Jack is forced to flee Mayfair over a ruby-mining scam. His flight also ends his burgeoning affair with Portia.

The Danburys
Photo of Lord Marcus Anderson

A shrewd and formidable family in the Bridgerton universe’s aristocracy. Queen Charlotte reveals their origin story.

Lady Agatha Danbury

One of the sharpest women in the ton. Lady Agatha is the widow of the late Lord Danbury and a mother of four. By the Regency era, she’s also a maternal figure to Duke Simon Basset following the death of his own biological mother.

Lord Marcus Anderson

An unexpected visitor from the country — and Lady Danbury’s younger brother. Lord Marcus is a widow and father, who’s been grieving the death of his wife. He’s now looking to reconnect with his sister and, possibly, add his name to Violet Bridgerton’s dance card.

Lord Danbury

The husband of Lady Agatha, who wishes to be recognized for his status. He dies soon after obtaining the title of lord, leaving Lady Danbury a widow.

Dominic Danbury

The oldest son of Lord and Lady Danbury’s children and the heir of the family.
