Javier Baéz got roasted Tuesday night after he was hit by a pitch.
The Detroit Tigers shortstop has struggled recently, and in the sixth inning of Tuesday’s 9-8 loss to the Guardians, he expressed frustration after being hit by Cleveland relief pitcher Nick Sandlin.

Guardians play-by-play broadcaster Matt Underwood then poked some fun at Baéz.
“Javier Báez… He got hit. I’ll tell you what, Sandlin has been all over the place,” said Underwood, via Awful Announcing. “Báez chirping… Look Javy, you are way under .200. Nobody’s hitting you on purpose. It wasn’t even a fastball. It was a breaking ball.”
Báez is hitting .185 with a career worst .465 OPS.
Báez, 31, spent the first eight years of his career with the Chicago Cubs, a stint that featured two All-Star seasons. He was traded to the Mets in 2021 and in free agency turned down a $125 million contract in New York to sign with the Tigers for $140 million.
