Nike released the penultimate uniform in their City Connect series on Monday, revealing a design featuring the San Francisco Giants. "There are Giants in the sky," Major League Baseball said on Twitter along with images of Brandon Crawford and Alex Wood in the new uniforms.

The Giants, who are currently the top team in MLB at 53-30, are pictured in white and red-orange uniforms with the Golden Gate Bridge on the sleeves, along with hints of fog at the bottom of the imagery and the numbers. The iconic bridge is also on the players' hats.

The City Connect series features seven inaugural teams — the Arizona Diamondbacks, the Boston Red Sox, the Chicago Cubs, the Chicago White Sox, the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Miami Marlins and the Giants. All but the Dodgers' uniform have been revealed, with Los Angeles' reveal scheduled for Aug. 18.

"Nike MLB City Connect Series honors the history that binds club, fan, city and culture," Nike originally said in April. "In later seasons, the City Connect Series will appear league-wide."

First impression

Grant Brisbee, Giants beat writer: Listen, I'm aware of the familiarity heuristic that human brains default to. Any change to a uniform that I grew up with — even for a day — is unlikely to impress me. So when a new hat/uniform/what have you is released, I take a deep breath and do my best to go in with an open mind.

This City Connect Giants jersey is awful, just appalling. First, the clip-art "G" on the front is lazy, something a college kid would do five minutes before a project is due. Second, I'm not sure the designer knows how fog works. It doesn't just hang around the middle of the Golden Gate Bridge like a plate of greasy ribs. It comes from the sky, you fools, the sky.

D-minus, see me after class.
