A 19-year-old man suspected of shooting two Century High School students, killing one, in a gang-related attack more than two years ago was arrested last week, authorities said.
On April 28, 2022, Roberto Izelo, 18, and his 19-year-old cousin were sitting in a car parked in an alley along the 1400 block of South Minnie Street when a gunmen approached them and fired several shots at the vehicle, Santa Ana police said.
Izelo, who lived in Tustin, was pronounced dead at a hospital.
His cousin was hospitalized and released.
Both victims played on the school’s baseball team and had just finished a game, police said.
After two years, police determined the shooting to be gang-related and identified the suspect as Kevin Chavez of Santa Ana. Chavez, 17 at time of the shooting, was arrested on Friday, July 12, on suspicion of murder.
