Richard (Rick) Cryder OBITUARY

Richard (Rick) Cryder OBITUARY

Richard Lamarr (Bud, Rick) Cryder, 76 of Sun City, AZ passed away peacefully on May 6, 2024. He was born on August 23, 1947 in Huntsville, AL to Paul and Sara (Brandon) Cryder. Rick served in the United States Navy. Rick was a proud veteran who loved to talk with others who served and always said “thank you for your service”. Rick married Sally Linski in 1983 in Las Vegas, NV. Sally passed away in 2021. Rick & Sally together lived in Arizona, California, then they moved back to Arizona. Rick retired early from Gannett Outdoor Co. of Arizona. To propose to Sally, he designed a billboard that said “Sally, I truly love you. Will you marry me? Love Rick”. He then drove her by the billboard, which was placed on her route to work. When Rick lived in California, he was a volunteer probation officer with the County of Orange Probation Department. Rick and Sally together founded Angels of Love in 1997. Rick’s dream was to create a ministry that made stained-glass Angels that were freely given to bring encouragement, love, hope, peace, and comfort to people during difficult circumstances-whether grieving the loss of a family member or suffering from a serious illness, disability, or tragedy. Rick designed several large Angels, gave each a name & special story as to why they were given their name. Rick & his many volunteers put together those Angels in his garage. Sally did a lot of the secretarial work (& then some) basically everything needed to make it a success. Rick also designed a smaller Angel that was made in large quantities. Due to health issues with both Sally & Rick, their church took over their Angels of Love and it is still today an ongoing 501 (C) (3) nonprofit organization at Angelsoflove.org. Thank you to Radiant Church in Huntington Beach, CA. Rick had a talent working with stained glass. He designed many projects for their homes and for some family & friends. He also made projects and donated them to churches & hospitals. Rick is survived by his two daughters & their families, Stacey (James) Donaldson of Plano, TX and Tamera (Mark) Roncal of Tolleson, AZ. Rick is also survived by his sister & brother in law, Leslie & Mark Decapo of Sun City, AZ & Rick & Sally’s beloved dog Gracie, as well as numerous other family members. Rick is preceded in death by his wife Sally, his parents, Paul Cryder & Sara Haggard, and two of his brothers, John (Butch) Cryder & Barry S. Cryder. Rick’s family wish to thank the nursing team at Banner Del E. Webb Medical Center in Sun City West, AZ, and the wonderful team at Solace Hospice of Phoenix, AZ. Also thank you to the special people at Loving Arms, Assisted Living LLC in Surprise, AZ. You all were such a blessing to us and we appreciated each & every one of you. A special thank you to Sharon P. who was Rick’s chair Zumba instructor in Arizona for many years. Rick loved Sharon’s weekly chair Zumba & loved when others joined in. Rick always got a big smile or smirk on his face at the end of every class when Sharon had everyone shout together “Peace, Love (making the heart with your fingers) & Zoommm-bahhh!” Rick donated his body to science & cremation has taken place. Thank you to the team at Science Care, INC. who assisted our family with Rick’s wishes. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 10am at Radiant Church, in Huntington Beach, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Rick’s memory, are appreciated to Angels of Love in Huntington Beach, CA (Angelsoflove.org) or to Solace Hospice of Phoenix, AZ.
