The Judicial Nominating Commission seeks applicants to fille a vacancy for the position of District Judge for the Second Judicial District, encompassing Beckham, Custer, Ellis, Roger Mills, and Washita Counties, Office 1. This vacancy is created by the retirement of the Honorable Jill C. Weedon, effective November 1, 2024.

To be appointed to Office 1, Second Judicial District, one must be a legal resident of Beckham, Custer, Ellis, Roger Mills, or Washita County at the time (s)he takes the oath of office and assumes the duties of office. Additionally, prior to appointment, such appointee shall have had a minimum of four years’ experience in Oklahoma as a licensed practicing attorney, a judge of a court of record, or both.

Applications must be submitted to the Chairman of the JNC no later than 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2024. Applications may be mailed, hand delivered, or delivered by third party commercial carrier. To be appointed to Office 1, 9th Judicial District, one must be a legal resident of Payne or Logan County at the time (s)he takes the oath of office and assumes the duties of office. Additionally, prior to appointment, such appointee shall have had a minimum of four years’ experience in Oklahoma as a licensed practicing attorney, a judge of a court of record, or both.

To be appointed to Office 1, Twenty-second Judicial District, one must be a legal resident of Seminole or Hughes County at the time (s)he takes the oath of office and assumes the duties of office. Additionally, prior to appointment, such appointee shall have had a minimum of four years’ experience in Oklahoma as a licensed practicing attorney, a judge of a court of record, or both.

Per Senate Bill No. 1456, a new Three-Judge Panel shall be appointed to serve as the Court of Existing Claims (CEC) Division of the Court of Civil Appeals. As of July 1, 2024, the Panel shall consist of:

  • Robert (Bobby) Bell, Presiding Judge
  • Jane P. Wiseman, Judge
  • Thomas E. Prince, Judge
  • Stacie Hixon, Judge (Alternate)

This Panel shall serve through December 31, 2024.
