Lobsters in the sea

The blues of this crayfish's pincers were just so vibrant. Do not save, redistribute, or re-post this photograph anywhere on the internet (including Tumblr, Flickr, Blogspot, et cetera).

Lily, the blue lobster, was caught off Maine, was donated to the Huntsman Aquarium in St. Andrew's New Brunswick, Canada in August 2009.

A German scientist recently discovered what is possibly the most beautiful crayfish in the world – Cherax pulcher. This little freshwater cousin of the shrimp and lobster, native to Indonesia, has a vividly colorful shell that looks like a cosmic nebula or a tropical sunset.

Fish are aquatic creatures found all over the world. There are about 32,000 species of fish, making them the most diverse group of vertebrates when it comes to species!

I’ve always thought lobsters to be red. It’s probably due to (a) my land-locked status (b) Sebastien from Disney’s Little Mermaid (who is, incidentally, a crab) (c) hanging around…
