Happy Thursday!

When the long-running Vans Warped Tour quit making its summer trek across the U.S. in 2018, emo and pop punk fans were pretty bummed.

To help soothe the loss of such an iconic rite of passage, a few bands that had spent the early days of their career sweating it out on the road during Warped Tour came together to create the Sad Summer Festival.

The traveling festival tour doesn’t feature as many acts or stages as Warped Tour, but with familiar bands like Taking Back Sunday, The Maine, Hot Mulligan, PVRIS and Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness, it definitely helps fill that void.

Reporter Charlie Vargas talked to Sad Summer Festival’s co-founder Mike Marquis about the event, which is currently in its fourth year. The tour plays its final date at FivePoint Amphitheatre in Irvine on Saturday, July 29. Read the full interview and find out how to get tickets to the show here.

💤 A new location for Dreamstate

Insomniac Events’ Dreamstate trance music festival is relocating from San Bernardino to Long Beach in 2023. The two-day fest, scheduled for Nov. 17-18, will now takeover the Queen Mary Waterfront. Get the full lineup and ticket information here.

🧁 Echo Park Rising returns

Following a lengthy hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the free Echo Park Rising Festival will return to Los Angeles in 2023. The single-day event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 9. The fest will feature live music, art and food from local artists and vendors. Here’s what we know about the festival so far.

🌵 Desert Daze cancels 2023 fest

While fans had already purchased tickets and were awaiting the lineup for the 2023 Desert Daze Festival at Lake Perris, promoters of the event announced last week that they’d be putting off the festival this year to refocus and build a bigger, better festival in 2024. Fans can either hold on to their tickets and use them in 2024 or receive a full refund.

However, Desert Daze isn’t just taking a year off. It pivoted to its Daze in the City concert series, which features acts like The Black Angels, Les Claypool’s Fearless Flying Frog Brigade, Blonde Redhead and more performing in venues across Southern California in October. Get the full lineup of concerts here.

🤠 Brooks & Dunn added to Coastal Country Jam lineup

Coastal Country Jam has added a new act to its already stacked roster of talent. The two-day festival will now feature recently reunited country music duo Brooks & Dunn. The pair, who played a lively and hit-filled set on the Mane Stage at the Stagecoach Country Music Festival in Indio back in April, will join Blake Shelton, Dustin Lynch, Tyler Hubbard, Flo Rida and more on Saturday, Sept. 16.

The show continues with Tim McGraw, Maren Morris, Scotty McCreery and more on Sunday, Sept. 17 at Marina Green Park in Long Beach. Find out who else is playing, check out the new location of the festival and get ticket information here.
