The 10th Annual Midsummer Shakespeare Festival is underway at the Claremont college’s outdoor Sontag Greek Theatre.
The star this year is “La Tempestad,” a bilingual version of William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest.” The festival also includes performances of “The Knight of the Burning Pestle,” a 17th-century play by Francis Beaumont.

The productions, which started Thursday, July 11, will alternate performance nights through Sunday, July 21.
“La Tempestad,” adapted and directed by Beatrice Casagrán, can be seen Thursday, July 18, and Saturday, July 20. “Knight,” directed by Caitlin Lopez, can be viewed Friday, July 19, and Sunday, July 21.
The festival is a co-sponsored by Ophelia’s Jump, a Claremont-based nonprofit regional theater company, and Pomona College.
All shows are at 8 p.m. Before each performance, the theater will be open for picnickers and concessions will be available. At 7 p.m. a pre-show entertainment featuring bands and performers will be staged.
