Ivan John Uy

Secretary (Department of Information and Communications Technology)

Ivan John Uy is the current secretary of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), a position to which he was appointed by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in June 2022.

Uy, a lawyer, earned his legal management degree from the Ateneo de Manila University and his law degree from the University of the Philippines. He studied at the University of Minnesota under the prestigious Hubert H. Humphrey fellowship.

Uy chaired the Commission on Information and Communications Technology during the Aquino administration from 2010 until it was dissolved in 2011. He had also served as the Supreme Court’s chief information officer (CIO) during the term of then-Chief Justice Hilario Davide Jr.

Known for the digitalization shift at the Supreme Court, Uy is also acknowledged as an expert on computer forensics, cybercrime, electronic evidence, e-commerce, and digital ethics.
