Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Low-cost generic drugs are as safe and effective as the criminally expensive branded ones. And all human life is sacred. This is the clear message from Fire In The Blood, and it bears telling. And re-telling. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 19, 2019 Full Review J. R. Jones Chicago Reader This infuriating documentary by Dylan Mohan Gray chronicles the long battle to make generic ARVs available to poor African countries, which big pharma resisted because cheap drugs would undermine their bloated pricing here in the U.S. Jan 30, 2014 Full Review Gary Goldstein Los Angeles Times Unfortunately, Dylan Mohan Gray's slow and steady exposé never quite manages the propulsive gut punch its incendiary subject demands. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 12, 2013 Full Review Naila Scargill Trebuchet An essential watch that is laden with information, what is admirable about Fire in the Blood is Gray's decision to not take a political slant-an easy, obvious approach-allowing the story to speak for itself purely from a humanitarian angle. Feb 28, 2019 Full Review Grethe Kemp City Press (South Africa) Upsetting, poignant, infuriating... it shows the very worst of humanity - how privileged people in the West simply just didn't give a damn about millions upon millions of people dying in Africa. This is compulsory watching. Rated: 4/5 Aug 23, 2018 Full Review Ann Lee metro.co.uk And while the narration is a touch on the dry side, Fire in the Blood will certainly fuel anger in your veins. Audience Member Essential. Ruthlessly documents how up to 12 MILLION people were required to die because western big Pharma companies would not share life-saving drugs. Also blows away many pharma myths such as - Pharma spend almost nothing on drug research - Pharma buy their $60 pills from the same labs that produce 5c generics etc, etc. I found it utterly compelling, and am shocked by the lukewarm critics - especially the guy who says it has 'bland graphics, and one-dimensional facts'. No doubt this critic would be impressed by Pfizer's flashy adverts on how dangerous cheap generic drugs are - he must prefer flashy outright lies over the boring old truth. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member A documentary everyone should be required to read. This shows why medicine and medical decisions should never be based on monetary issues. Pharm companies should be ashamed of themselves as this was not an isolated incident. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Read all reviews
