    SAM I just...I cant stand it. I cant do it anymore. Pause. SAM Its making me nauseous. Its making me sick.

    (a short pause) Im like breaking out in fucking rashes. ROSE I have no idea what youre talking about. SAM You dont? Pause. SAM Really? A long silence. SAM I likeI fucking love you. Pause. Sam is still looking out at the movie screen. SAM I dont even know why. Youre like... I see all these things that are wrong with you. But its like Pause. SAM Its really bad. Its really bad. Its not like a It goes way beyond the word crush, or like I want to like I cant sleep. I mean, I havent really slept for like the past year and a half. And then when I do sleep I dream about you. And youre like talking to me. Or like fucking some other guy. Or standing in front of me in like a motel room like brushing your teeth. (a short pause) Its never been like this before. I walk down the street and all Im thinking is: Rose. Rose. Rose. Its like the fucking soundtrack to my life. Just your name makes me like... Silence. SAM Ive pictured saying this to you. Ive pictured saying it so many times. Pause. He does not turn around. They are both very still. ROSE So what do you want? Pause. He is still facing forward. SAM What do you mean? ROSE Like what do you think is gonna happen now? Pause. SAM I dont know. Pause. SAM I guess I just... I guess I needed to get it off my chest. ROSE But is this the kind of thing where you want the person to love you back or you actually secretly don t want them to love you back?

    Pause. SAM Thats a good question. ROSE Because it sort of seems like it has nothing to do with me. Like me me. You know? Pause. Sam s heart breaks. SAM Thats not how I wanted it to seem. Be. Thats not how I wanted it to be. Rose sighs a long, sad sigh. ROSE Like Like even right now. Its like youre performing or something. Pause. SAM Im not performing. Pause. SAM Im not performing. ROSE So turn around and look at me. Pause. SAM (tears starting to brim in his eyes) Do you like me back? ROSE Oh my god. Pause. ROSE Would you please just turn around? Sam shakes his head no. ROSE Sam. He shakes his head no again. ROSE Youre seriously not going to turn around and look at me? He does not turn around. ROSE You dont know me. Like for whatever reason you like me...Im not like...Im not like like that at all. (a short pause) Trust me. (a short pause) Okay?
