Carrickmacross Lace Fan Pin

Marion Jones
Archer, FL
Carrickmacross lace originated in Ireland. A thread
is couched along the pattern outline on organdy
layered over netting. The organdy is cut away
to reveal the netting in some areas of the design.
Filling stitches, such as the characteristic circular
pops, are usually embroided on the net
background.

Materials Needed:
DMC #50 Alsace for couching thread
Coats #60 for padding thread
#12 Sharp needle
100% cotton organdy
100% cotton hexagonal net
Lace scissors to trim the organdy
Butter paper to trace pattern
Tissue paper for padding
Pastel sewing thread for basting
