    Statement of Purpose

    Having a major in Information Management in bachelor degree and being a software

    programmer in the biggest travel company in Asia for one and half years. I built new sales

    module for Enterprise Resource System and need to ensure its security. One time, our

    system got attacked by a hacker and thirty thousand data got stolen. As a developer I

    should have the ability Building a good web application can make people convenient. I

    am especially interested in web application development and cyber security. During the

    work, I found that I got sufficient in some knowledge, such as cyber security in web-based

    environment and algorithms. I chose George Mason University Applied Information

    Technology programs since the program includes cyber security and fundamental course

    such as data structure and algorithms, and operation system. Also, George Mason

    University is an environment friendly for international students.

    During the time in college, my first experience in software development was an app

    project with classmates. We developed an Android app which utilizes algorithms to

    calculate the shortest path for a user who intends to go somewhere by public transportation.

    In these processes, I studied computer programming by myself and tried to optimize the

    algorithms. This app finally gained us a credit in the National App Innovation

    Information competition and I got an A on Project Practice. This experience made a lasting

    impression on me to persistently study software development. After graduating from

    college, I participated in the biggest travel company in Asia for one and half year. That was

    my first experience in web application development. My position is a full-stack web

    developer and I worked hard to study web technology such as programming language and

    framework. In the ticket group, I was responsible for developing and maintaining ERP
    system by using Asp.Net MVC5. Within six months, I was familiar with the system and

    developed twenty-five programs. Therefore, my supervisor gave me an opportunity to

    participate in an important project that developing API to get information from the airline

    system or supplier of global distribution system over the internet to book seats right back

    to the online travel service which then shows it to clients. The API was officially

    online and the supervisor satisfied with the rate of execution, which made me confident in

    myself.

    I find my passion for software development especially in web application. After

    working one year, I cultivated my programming logic, the ability of debugging and software

    development process. As a junior software engineer, I am ready and have a potential for

    digging deeper into various technologies. Because of my enthusiasm about web

    application development, I would like to study algorithms and data structure, and

    computing platform to enhance my knowledge. In addition, I want to study cyber security

    based on software development.

    In the future, I could take advantage of these skills to develop more beneficial web

    application to society. I believe that my work experience and academic background would

    position me as a powerful candidate. I am well prepared and I believe that under the

    guidance and mentoring of your faculty, my potential could be fully developed. I sincerely

    appreciate it.
