SECONDARY LAUNCHING BY THE CONTROL WITH

DAVIT ARM
If the free fall launching procedures appear unacceptable for reason such as solid objects floating in
the area of the life boat excepted splash down or any other reason, the craft can be lowered to the
water using the winch and fall wire. The launch by wire method of lowering the fire boat is dependent
on electrical power from ship’s power supply, and an operator to be positioned at the maneuvering
controls. This method is used when full control of the launch is required, i.e. for training purposes.
1. Main switch “on” on the starter panel.
2. on/off switch “on” on pump units.
3. Disconnect traverse lashing line, and connect sling rope to hook.
4. Disengage the boat lashing lever.
5. Lift traverse slowly until fall wire and sling rope is tighten by control lever on pump unit.
6. Release main lashing stopper(toggle pin) and sub-lashing device.
7. Embarkation according to boat instruction.
8. Release main hook in boat according to boat instruction.
9. Swing out the boat to its lowering position by control lever “turn out” on pump unit.
10. Lower the boat to the water until the wire fall become slack by control lever(lowering) on pump
unit.
11. Disconnect sling rope from traverse hook when the boat is waterborne.
12. After the boat waterborne, to be followed boat Instruction manual placed in boat.
13. on/off switch “off” on pump units secondary launching operation by davit arm is completed.

SECONDARY LAUNCHING (RECOVERY)


It is possible to recover the boat that only life boat with crews(2 or 3 person) remain in boat during
recovery. Other personnel should transfer by other means if possible.
1. on/off switch “on” on pump unit.
2. Swing out Davit arm by control lever(turn out) on pump unit until davit arm at full out reach, and
lower traverse to sea above boat by control lever(lowering) on pump unit.
3. Navigate the life boat asterm below traverse, and connect sling rope to hook on traverse. Take
care not to hit the boat or personnel in with traverse.
4. Lift the boat by control lever(hoisting) on pump unit up to distance approx. 1m from davit head.
5. Swing in boat to its resting position on sliding ramp.
6. Engage securely main hook on boat at by the control of hoisting, and secure main lashing
stopper(toggle pin). Lower the traverse until the boat sling Rope become slack.
7. Disembarkation.
8. Disconnect sling rope from the hook on traverse, and stowed at parking position.
9. Fasten traverse lashing line with its proper tension.
10. on/off switch “off” on pump units, and main switch “off” on starter panel. Recovery operation is
completed.
