➢ Subira Women group is a self help group with an objective of alleviating poverty amongst
women by empowering them through legal income activities using available resources
and affordable modern farming technology.
➢ Promote mutual co — operation among women in the community and meet regularly and make
contributions which are used to support members of the group
➢ Create awareness and educate women on issues affecting women in the community in the areas
of health, gender based violence and care for creation.
➢ Organizes seminars for members on development and social issues affecting the community.
➢ Community activities to help the poor and those with special needs in the community

Description of the project (not more than 300 words):

1. What are the project goals and how will they be reached?

D Empowering women by providing them with a means to earn their livelihoods through dairy
farming, enhance ownership of livestock, and improve decision making.
D Educate the women in economic literacy skills that will enable them market the dairy products
D Ensure food security among the women as the milk offers a balanced diet and the proceeds from the
sale of milk and its products will generate income for the household
D Health and wellness as a result of improved nutrition.
D Enhance cooperation and community service among members
2. What specific results do you expect this project to produce? How will you measure your actual
results? How does this relate to empowerment of women?

D Results: -
o Ownership of dairy cows at least one cow by each member with a cow shed established in
her farm. Napier grass will be planted in all the members farms
o Food security in the women's households as a result of increased production of milk and
milk related products leading to healthy families.
o Self reliance through increased household income from livestock related activities
o Improved ability of the women to pool their resources together and engage in other
activities such as poultry farming
o Raised status of women to be at par with men, and contribute to the development of the
society as a whole.
o More efficient outcomes in the production of milk and its related products thus creating job
opportunities for community.
o Self sustainability
o Better decision making and access to resources
D Measurement: -
o Number of cows purchased for each member.
o Number off arms with Napier grass planted
o Field support visits, activity reports, monthly and quarterly reports to ensure the targets are
achieved within the said time
o Number of beneficiaries benefiting from the project D

o Confidence building among the women, better decision making, ownership and access
to resources
o Improved livelihoods, economic growth and poverty reduction
o Enhanced livestock ownership, decision making over the animals, control over the
income derived from the dairy farm as well as the environment in which they operate
