SOP - Jigyasa Core Committee

My first interaction with the quiz was probably at the age of 4 or 5, my grandfather would ask
me trivia and would give me chocolates for the correct answer. So yes, it was the greed for that
chocolate which kickstarted curiosity in me. Reading Safaris was my primary source of
knowledge then, which quickly changed to History Textbook and films and now finally to the
Internet, where I realized there is a lot more in quizzes than remembering names and dates. I
have had interests in varied subjects which has often led me to dilemmas and made me a jack of
all trades, master of none. Though this has helped me in many ways, like finding a common
ground to talk and act as an icebreaker, understanding things in a better way, establishing
correlations, and sometimes appreciation from peers. I always wanted to know more and what
better way to start than taking a quiz !

I have participated in and won several quizzes during my school days which went on in my
engineering and continuing it here at IRMA. Among B-Schools in India, IRMA has one of the
best quiz cultures, brilliantly represented by Jigyasa. I always regretted not being part of quiz
clubs and not participating at bigger levels. I did not have an opportunity then, but now I have it
in form of Jigyasa and I want to encash it (no pun intended). Being part of Jigyasa will allow me
to set quizzes, which I think is the best way to gain knowledge.

The main aim of any quiz club is to update the knowledge of the members in various fields like
corporates, general knowledge, reasonings, etc. If I become part of the core committee member, I
will make sure that these touchpoints are covered with timely topical and general quizzes.
Staying connected with students and other quiz clubs via social media is also something I am
looking forward to doing. If the situation allows, I would also like to take quizzing culture at
IRMA to the next level by organizing a 3-day long quiz festival, invitees being alumni, and other
B-School Quiz clubs. Jigyasa is also associated with local quiz clubs like AVQC and some
brilliant quizmasters. I intend to leverage this synergy created between clubs and individuals to
train students for bigger quizzes. This will allow more and better teams from IRMA to
competitions like TATA Crucible and hopefully, retain the title.
