Slide 3/ Chapter I / Introduction

Abucayon: Polymers, commonly known as plastics, are a type of material that has a wide variety of
mechanical, physical, chemical, and optical characteristics, as well as a wide range of optical qualities.
Polymers, unlike metals, have a lower density, strength, elastic elasticity, thermal and electrical
conductivity, and cost than metals.

Bucao: As a result, plastics are mostly employed in the domains of agriculture, household
appliances, apparel, building, and a variety of other industries that require them. High-Density
Polyethylene (HDPE)is the most widely utilized polymer in today's industrial and commercial
products. Under the Polyethylene (PE) polymer, HDPE is one of the most basic forms.

Cuacas: A thermoplastic polymer may be melted to a liquid state and then remolded to a solid
form. It's tough, it's not too pricey, and it has a great understanding of the process. It's utilized in
a variety of things, from supermarket bags to containers made of heavy-duty plastic.

Estrada: The detrimental consequences of plastic waste on animals are increasingly being documented in
the study. This pollution is known to have injured over 800 species, either through ingestion or
entanglement.

Olea: The Sugar Free Soros project, which was supported by the European Union, discovered a solution
to the problem of contaminated drinking straws. The solution is to make the straws edible. Their
environmental effect will be zero if they are consumed rather than thrown away. The title of the project is
derived from the plural version of the Spanish word sorry, which means a sip.

Sullo: During 2017, the company introduced the original Soros straw. It was strong, yet also
flexible, like a straw made of plastic. Despite being a popular product, it offered a sweet flavor to
beverages and added color to them. Customers demanded a sugar-free version with the same
physical qualities within a month of the original product's availability

Torres: Going plastic-free or zero-waste does not always imply giving up the things we like or are
accustomed to. It's usually just a matter of deciding what's best for us. For instance, people can still enjoy
drinks with straws and businesses could still offer a great customer experience.

Statement of the problem

Abucayon: It is unrealistic to remove the usage of plastics and to solve the global problem about
plastic waste. It is possible to do an alternative for plastics and to reduce the increasing amount
of plastic waste in the ocean and land. Here is our statement of the problem.

1. How will E- Straw affect the environmental problem by using it?


2. What are the benefits by using E-Straw as an alternative use of plastic straw?
3. How long does E-Straw last in any kind of drinks?
4. Does Egg white Straw will not affect the taste of your drink?

Hypothesis

Bucao: To Identify the main problem the researchers will test the following null hypothesis a
level of significance:

HO = The number of chosen respondents chose to use egg white straw as an alternative tool for
drinking
Ha = The number of chosen respondents who use egg white straw as an alternative tool for
drinking to the health of a person who is using/eating this E- straw.

Objectives
Cuacas: The general objective of this project is to determine The Effectiveness of Using Egg
White Straw as An Alternative Tool for Drinking in Reducing Plastic Waste.

Significance of the study

Estrada : This research is made with the aim to provide crucial information and knowledge
regarding the chosen topic. The project is to save more money and to lessen the trash. And on the
other side, the study aims to create a product out of eggs that can help to reduce plastic, creating
the E-Straw.

Scope and limitations

Olea : This study focuses on how to make edible egg white straw as an alternative to drinking
and its effectiveness for reducing plastic waste. The main purpose of this investigation also
includes how sturdy is the egg white straw from hot and cold drinks.

Chapter II Review of Related Literature and Studies

Torres: The purpose of this project is to know the Effectiveness of E-Straw as an alternative tool
for drinking. This chapter summarizes the relevant literature and studies from various sources
that the researcher evaluated while determining the significance of the current investigation. It
also includes a synthesis of the literature and studies in order to thoroughly comprehend the
research and have a better understanding of the subject.

Sullo : According to, Xizheng, W. (2021), The use of plastic straws has a substantial negative
environmental impact. Every day, more than half a billion straws are used in the United States
and subsequently discarded. Most recycling machinery cannot recycle them due to their shape
and size.

Abucayon: According to, Dinkovski (2020), Rice straws have the advantage of being completely
harmless to the environment, while retaining their durability when immersed in water. Even if it
is not eaten by the consumer, it can be decomposed within 90 days.

Bucao: Meanwhile, according to a study conducted by Zhou (2021), the destruction of the
natural environment as a result of white pollution poses a serious threat to mankind's safety and
progress, and that small drinking straws have become the primary plastic trash that, due to their
large size, increases the load on the environment.

Cuacas: Edible straws have the highest water resistance rating of 65.18 percent. There is a
relationship between the amount of gelatin used and the temperature at which edible straws are
used, according to this research. Bioplastic formulations can be used as edible straws with the
right composition.

Synthesis

Estrada: The literature and studies cited in this paper are essential for better awareness of the
implications of plastic waste on the natural surroundings, animals, and safety of people. They
enlightened folk about plastics' beneficial and detrimental effects on the environment.

Olea: It is impossible to remove all the plastic waste in the whole world, but we can reduce the
usage of plastic and help to decrease plastic waste by using an alternative for plastic straws,
edible straws.

Sullo: In line with Labelle assiette (2019), Edible straws are safe for the environment and health
of the consumer. Biodegradable and not genetically modified, this straw doesn’t pollute the
planet.
Torres: The research team used related literature and studies as a foundation for understanding
how plastics outnumbered the environment and the consequences, as well as to provide an in-
depth understanding of the world's potential consequences of plastic waste and the benefits of
using edible straws as an alternative drinking tool to reduce plastic waste.

Theoretical Framework

Abucayon: This study examines the Effectiveness of Using E-Straw as an Alternative Tool for
Drinking in Reducing Plastic Waste that can be anchored to several educational theories: Theory
of Production with Waste and Recycling and Theory of biodegradable edible straws better than
Plastic ones

Conceptual Framework

Bucao: Our conceptual framework include the input, process and output. What is placed on the
input is egg white, that we'll need to make the output. Our approaches for data display, analysis,
and interpretation are based on the activity of the process. The Effectiveness of E-Straw in any
kinds of drinks will be the result of our output.

Chapter III Methodology

Cuacas: The purpose of this study was to discover the effectiveness of E-Straw as an alternative
tool for drinking in reducing plastic. Moreover, this chapter is divided into five (7) Research
design, Respondents of the Study, Sampling Technique, Research Instrument, List of Materials,
Data Gathering Procedure and Statistical Treatment of Data

Research Design

Estrada: This research conducted an Experimental Research to reduce the overall plastic. We use
experimental research to determine the effectiveness of E-Straw as an alternative tool for
drinking.
Respondents of the study

Sullo: This chapter of the study include the information acquired from Pamantasan Ng Cabuyao
Senior High School Department and the 30 of our family members that will participate in the
survey.

Sampling Techniques

Torres: The simple random sampling method will be used in this study. A simple random sample
is a subset of a statistical population in which each member has an equal chance of being picked.
The participants in this study is from Pamantasan ng Cabuyao Senior High School students and
the researchers family relatives as part of the assessment and evaluation process

Research Instrument

Abucayon: A researcher will create an instrument that is congruent with the problem description
and will be the primary instrument to be study. Prior research and studies on students'
responsibilities at home and their academic progress will use to develop the test. Researchers
will use web-based surveys to acquire a data from Pamantasan ng Cabuyao Senior High School
students and family relatives as part of the assessment and evaluation process.

Data gathering procedure

Bucao: Data gathering procedure consists of prototype building, testing, and survey. Prototype building
discusses the collecting of the materials, experiment different types of ingredients, and finishing the
model of our egg straw, which is shown in the first method. In addition, prototype testing that it shown in
second method, discusses the different methods of testing our egg straw’s durability and resistance to
guarantee its quality and safety stands. Lastly, the third method labeled as prototype survey, which the
researcher will analyse the survey responses that corresponds to their criteria that will verified, tallied,
interpreted, and evaluated subsequently.

Statistical Treatment of Data

Cuacas: The following statistical procedures were used to interpret the data gathered from the
respondents of the study. Number 1 is Spearman Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. This was
used to test the correlation between the two variables involved. And number 2 is t- Test for the
Correlation Coefficient r. This was utilized to test the null hypothesis stated in this study using the
computed value of coefficient r.

Estrada: The objective of this study is to assess the level of perception among the selected students and
family members on the effectiveness of using e-straw as an alternative tool for drinking in reducing
plastic waste. The information gained from this type of experimental research could help researchers
answer the research questions we provided. As a result, the researchers will assemble and analyse the
responses of the respondents who took part in the study.
