PRELIMINARIES

The session was started through a simple prayer led by Mrs. Romelia S. Ancheta.

SESSION PROPER

After having a roll call, Mr. Noel G. Malsi, school principal, stated the purpose of
session. The session highlighted on the Flexible Reading Program to be conducted in the
school. The gist of his session focused on the following concerns:

a. Designation of School Reading Coordinator and Phil-IRI Coordinators for SY 2021-


2022
b. Identification of SLAC Topics
c. Roles and functions of the designated coordinators

The school principal emphasized the importance of having school reading program in
this time of pandemic. Learners should be given priory in terms of improving their
reading comprehension skills. Hence, the school reading coordinator designate should
have craft Action Plan which will highlight the enhancement of students’ reading
comprehension skills.

Other matters were presented by the School Reading Coordinator

MINUTES OF THE SECOND LAC SESSION CONDUCTED VIRTUALLY BY
ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ON THE WHYS AND HOWS ON THE CONDUCT
OF PHIL-IRI READING REMEDIATION OCTOBER 25, 2021 AT EXACTLY
2:00 P.M.

PRELIMINARIES

The session was done through Google Platform via Google Meet. It
began at 2:00pm with an opening remark by the speaker, Jocel P. Algabre.
Also, played virtually were the prayer and the singing of the Philippine
National Anthem.

SESSION PROPER

After having a roll call, Ma’am Jocel P. Algabre, the speaker of this
session, presented the objectives of her topic, “Virtual Learning Action Cell on
the Hows and Whys on the Conduct of the Phil-IRI.”. The session highlighted
on the significance of PHI-IRI. Ma’am Jocel also emphasized how the PHI-IRI
works to help assess and identify struggling readers and likewise help teachers.
Teachers will be tap also in giving reading remediation to learners. The gist of
her session focused on the following concerns:

The Phil-IRI Group Screening Test (GST) can tell teachers whether
students are reading
at, above, or below their grade levels. The individually administered Phil-IRI
Graded Passages can be used to assess students’ Oral Reading, Silent Reading
Comprehension and/or Listening
Comprehension levels.

The Phil-IRI Oral Reading Test is administered in order to: identify the
student’s miscues in oral reading; record the number of words that a
student reads per minute; and find out how well a student understands the
passage read.

• The Phil-IRI Group Screening Test


• The Phil-IRI Group Screening Test (GST) is a silently-administered
test in both Filipino and English. Each tool is composed of a 20-item
comprehension test based on a set of leveled passages for each grade
level covering Grades 3 to 6 in Filipino and Grades 4 to 6 in English.
The passages were written and selected based on concept load, level of
vocabulary used, sentence complexity, nature of themes and cohesion.

English Virtual LAC Session

October 25, 2021


MINUTES OF THE 2nd LAC SESSION CONDUCTED VIRTUALLY BY
ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ON OCTOBER 19, 2021 AT EXACTLY 1:00
P.M.

PRELIMINARIES

The session was done through Google Platform via Google Meet. It
began at 1:00pm with an opening remark by the speaker, Sharil B. Pacultad .
Also, played virtually were the prayer and the singing of the Philippine
National Anthem.

SESSION PROPER

After having a roll call, Ma’am Sharil B. Pacultad , presented the


objectives of her topic, “on the Comprehensive use and Navigation of google
classroom.

Highlighted in this session was the Google Classroom Tutorial for


Teachers and Students via YouTube by Mr. Marky Ermac. Viewed on
Youtube were tutorials about Creating a Class and Joining a Class, Creating
and Submitting Class Works, and Creating a Quiz Using Google Forms.

After viewing series of tutorials on how to navigate the google


classroom, the speaker went back to taking a virtual tour in her own created
classrooms for her Grade 10 Sections handled, and presented thoroughly how
to create classes, assignments, quizzes, and other forms of materials to be
uploaded in google classrooms. It was ended a favorable and a very useful
platform that can help the students who have access to internet and for the
teachers as alternative delivery mode aside from Self- Learning Modules.

There was one question raised by Ma’am Cristina Solarte about other
option if the students do not have access to internet. The speaker said that this
Google Classroom is just an alternate while the main delivery mode that the
school has approved is the use of print modules.

Other matters were presented by the Department Head, Dr. Dahlia G.


Maglasang. She reminded the implementation of SIGA (School Inside a
Garden) as well as the maintenance and cleanliness within the school
premises. She also thanked everyone for joining the LAC session while others
were on site and others were working from home.

ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ON NOVEMBER 8, 2021 AT EXACTLY 10:00

Best Practices in Keeping our Students Engaged in Distance Learning

November 8, 2021 the English Department conducted their third virtual


learning activity cell session on the “Best Practices in Keeping our Students
Engaged in Distance Learning. Imie R. Calamba as our resource speaker
discussed and shared with the group the nine best practices.
1. Set Rules to minimize distractions 2. Build a routine to help students
learning manageable 3. Promote Digital Citizen 4. Meet them once a week 5.
Play games 6. Send your response promptly
7. Give feedback and 9 Increase parents involvement. All the English teachers
attended the said LAC session and happy for once again an additional learning
were added to their tank of knowledge.
SCIENCE DEPARTMENT

NARRATIVE REPORT on
VIRTUAL LAC SESSION ON “TEACHING EARTHQUAKES AND FAULTS
TO LEARNERS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS USING ICT TOOL”
For S.Y. 2020 - 2021

Compliant to DepEd order of holding LAC with departmental


colleagues, Science Department of CNHS conducted virtual LAC
Session on “Teaching Earthquakes and Faults to Learners with Special
Needs Using ICT Tool” in four methodologies namely: Model Making,
Carousel Brainstorming Strategy, Numbered Heads Together, and
Jigsaw Learning Activity. This was attended by all Science Teachers
headed by our smart department head, MA’AM NANCITA R.
SARDIDO and scores of interested individuals from other departments,
held on October 27, 2021.

The undertaking might seem ironical with my waterloo, which was


computer literacy. Had not because of the voluntary and potent
assistance of MA’AM LOIE MAY EREZO, I would have humbly
relinguished the session.

The session officially started with a prayer. Then the facilitator briefly
introduced the background of the topic and proceeded to presentation
of the strategies. The presentation was mostly delivered through slides
and videos. Far beyond the expectation, the supposed interactive
session ran smoothly bereft of intelligent questions and relevant
interactions.
The first strategy was Fault Model making, it depicted how the fault
moves during earthquake. Followed by Carousell brainstorming, a
cooperative learning activity that can be used both to discover and
discuss background knowledge prior to studying a new topic. The third
one was Numbered Heads Together. This was a cooperative learning
strategy that holds each student accountable for learning the material.
Finally the Jigsaw Learning activity which provided cooperative
learning strategy that enables each student of a home group to
specialize in one aspect of a topic.

While not every teacher makes best strategy in discharging a lesson,


what counts most and what is very essential is the passion and
commitment of a teacher to educate and let all students understand
and embrace the lesson.

The session was ended with a conclusion from our department head.
